Several years ago I was involved in a accident. Where the workers fell through the suspended rebar and got hurt. I am guessing the rebar was suspended three feet off the ground. It was 150 yard slab and the workers where the placing crew. 

Does anyone know what the OSHA rules are, while walking on suspended rebar?

Conact OSHA and ask them. The company I work for has the rodbusters lay 6x6 wire mesh on top of the mat for that reason.

I knew a guy that got hurt, he fell through and got severe concrete burns. Now on many deep jobs they require hip high rubber boots.

I am watching this thread several times a day. I'll call OSHA in a few days unless someone knows where OSHA stands.

I do a lot of mass pours 6+ ft deep , sometimes pump place and finish , if rebar is on more than 12 inch centers we require highway mesh to top the rebar mat , and always inspect the chairing and support sysytem for a top mat , just recently we had a job that they had to go back and build bigger and place more supports before our crews were allowed to get on the top mat, this was on a 11 ft thick foundation and we also required highway mesh placed on top. But I have never heard of and OSHA regulation specific to walking mats of rebar.
