I have heard a ton of people having problems with the DPF system. Is our industry getting any help?
I hear trucks are just shutting down at jobs sites.
I believe the problem stems from the fact that in order to properly burn off the soot trapped in the filter (regen cycle), the engine has to be running under a good load. Many customers who dont constantly load the engine have found out the hard way that the DPF will clog and the truck will shutdown during idle periods and light loading like PTO use. |

As a fleet puts new trucks with '07 engines and aftertreatment systems into service, a few other important changes must be observed. First of all, the trucks must use ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel. Without it, the DPF will plug up prematurely. Here is a great article for all 2007 and new owners http://wasteage.com/mag/waste_diesel_engine_emission/ |
