dont know what happens over seas but here i would never let anyone on the hose unless it is me or the line hand. that is normal over here.

Thats right, nobody touches the hose bar me or the hose man , if someone else is holding the hose and gets hurt , my arse is fried

There are plenty of line pumpers that supply the labor and pump, place & finish etc. right here in the US.

I have a friend that now owns 3 line pumps.His operators run the discharge hose most of the time,sometimes a second man.I now use a 3/8 mix on the majority of my work now.

I guess it all comes down to what works for you and the area.What's interesting is these pumps are getting what a small boom pump is charging.I must admit since changing my strategy my pours go smoother.

Over here we supply pump and 40m/110ft 10 steel 3 3m flex as standard kit plus boom with one operator (all in 4in.) Anything over that is second man , with site help on all lines no matter how long (some do , some walk off!!) The sec. man  helps wth the line once set up but is not there to lay it for them. We re not covered for loss due to injury laying the stuff and we have no come back on the contractor.  Price  is usually £200/8hrs inc travel . Some line pumps will do more for less.

we only put a man on the hose when we are pump and finish, but most guys around here are pretty familiar with pumps, our linepump is a two man operation he is there to help with the line but if he chooses to get on the end thats his choice no problem but he isnt required to

When I was pumping in FL the operator ALWAYS ran the hose

some guys are mega whippy. my fovorite mexican is five foot two and him and i can put down ten yards no problemo. thats right i will rod the mud off and float it if its needed.

art i got a 20 110 slidegate and yes i have both ins but not lin im working on that part of it nice booms up there in the north county

I agree with Art we run the hose on all masonry and back yard jobs. with in the last year my Rock pumps have two guys on the job. If we do extra long hose on grout we stay next to the pump.

We have our own placing and finishing crews so we always run our own hose. If I am working for "Do it yourselfer" joe, we offer an extra hand (placing assistant). And on occasion I have run my own hose, but that is the exception not the rule.

In Orange County, CA. its a one man job over here for most. It is just me the owner/operator who runsthe pump and hose.
