I've been running a boom pump for about a year, with no precious experience in the trades, so last winter (~Nov-Feb in Sacramento) was my first slow season. During this time I was working at most 2 days/week and it got me a little anxious. I've been thinking about finding some kind of side work during the slow months next time around and am curious to hear what you guys do when things get slow? Does small-scale residential building (custom homes, patios, walkways, etc) cool off as much as large-scale residential?

I live in Texas, no real off season here.
