Speedy, nobody else has mentioned this yet but being the troublemaker I am. You forgot to figure in the Pizza and Beverages into total cost. The added labor cost somebody. Just an opinion |

And don't forget that one guy that is a walking workers compensation claim that fell off of the boom because he got concrete in his eye. He will be in rehab for his drug problem right after he gets out of traction. Add that cost to your boom party too. ;~) Speedy is right on the $$$ with this post. |

Alot of rookies wont even stay on the yard to help put the pipe on,if your lucky enough to have some pipe on the yard at the time, all sudden they got to be somewhere else and the old hands end up putting it on,those are boom jockeys in my books, not operators. |

Why put a rookie operator on a 42M? That's just asking for trouble. By the way...would this boom party be happinng on a saturday too? |

Lots and lots and lots of hammers, hanging from something.I did try saving 2 material cylinders by having a friend come over with a concrete boreing machine.Got them clean but niched em to,got a couple more months out of them. Save old boom pipe !!!!.No other way that I have heard of. Hence >>>> Pizza and beverages |

That is one hell of a pipe cleaner; but it works like a champ. If it gets much more ugly than that you need one of the Putz VERY high pressure washers. If you are running twin wall pipe, it will pump the liner right out of the case. Best all-round plan is to avoid the party. The best way to do that is AS SOON AS YOU BREAK DOWN, call the shop (if you have one). Typical hero or rookie program is to screw around for 1/2 hour and deprive your company of valuable reaction time. Call in ASAP, then fix the problem. If your boss does not appreciate your caution, perhaps you are working for the wrong company. |

Had aparty about a month ago with a 42m. One of the mud companies has a policy and habit of send out mud that maybe 3 hours old and telling the drivers not to mention it.All it took was the 5 min. to do my washout and it was all over. Luckily we saved the system by pulling all the elbows off and plugging a 39m to it to push the rest with water. |

I only had 1 party back in 1976 LOL My dad was the operator, I Have never had one sents LOL , So may operators make the mistake leaving there agur on LOL. Between trucks. you can';t go by how long you been waiting :))) You never know if your getting a hot load? Or if the mix has reactors in it that make it flash. I grow up moving the mud every 10 min or so The last 25 years. The last 10 years i learn to JUST turn off the agur. Just test the mud in the hopper every 10 min or so! If its wet? Then Your ok. Its not a easything to get use to LOL But if u think about it? I sat once with 5000 pound mud once four over 1 hr. My oiler was going nuts LOL. There are so many things you new guys could learn! But then again there's those guys that know everything LOL. I Hear a man in are yard say once that everyone has a boom party now and then! I would never Higher a man with that out look. I believe in helping anyone that ask. But so many of you new guys KNOW it all. Your the reason i have a job. Rich |

Ive had success with modified blow out cap that was adapted to a pressure washer, slow but will get the mud out of the pipes after nothing else will. as a plus you dont have to strip all the pipe off the boom just every other piece. Caution I have seen elbows split (probably thin) and clamps break from this though. |
