The suppliers I deal with do not charge me a restocking fee. I buy a lot of stuff from a few suppliers. I try to never buy from out of town or something I can not touch just for your reason. Some times ill pay a little more but I can take it back and no freight. So after all that no charge is fair for me.

I was in the pump-parts bizz for a while; it was no fun. Many pumpers felt like I was the bank, not a place to get parts. 60 to 120 days was not un-common. The restocking charge is not really a restocking charge, it is a penalty for changing your mind and screwing up their cash flow and inventory control. I understand the 'penalty'. That being said, I would call the company and tell them that what you ordered was not a "special order" but rather an off the shelf sort of order and you feel that a restocking charge is out of line. If they won't be reasonable, pay it and never do any more bizz there. Be sure to tell them that when you send it back and pay the restocking charge that they may as well tear up your information card. See if that tactic will change their mind.
