Zoomlion and Cifa are back in the Guinness Book of Records. The tallest concrete pump in the world was presented in Changsha at the end of September. The pump is 101 metres long and has a 7-section boom, the last 4 sections being made of carbon.

The last (4) sections are carbon fiber is why they look so 'beefy'.  You can get that 'beefed up' look with low weight.....of course a Ferrari has a lot of carbon fiber in it too & we all know what they go for.  This is the Carbo-Tech (carbon technology) Zoomlion acquired in the union with CIFA.  CIFA's got quite a few of their longer booms being made with this same technology, keeping the weight down & the strength up.  I agree, very neat stuff.

thats cool, didnt think i'd ever see a 100+m boom on a straight truck.

I'd hate to know what it would cost to do repairs on a carbon fiber boom. Its not like you can just weld it. What about boom inspections? Do the inspectors have to have a different cert for this?

Am i missing something? I only see 6 sections in all these pictures.

The 6th section is a medium length, while the 7th is short.  Look a little closer at the group picture, you can see the pipe and elboe joints where they pivot between 6 & 7.

if you look at the chassis that the sany 86m is on there is a lot of room for improvement so it will not be long before they annouce a bigger one

No,

Independent inspection companies do not need a separate certification to properly inspect this type of machine. But I can almost guarantee no american inspection company that is properly accredited and insured will take on the responsibility of inspecting this type of machine.

As far as the carbon fiber boom repairs will go, I'm sure the section will be replaced rather than field repaired .

This machine is a prototype , and I can almost bet it will never see american soil in my lifetime. Its not a money maker for a pump rental company, its just simply for "bragging rights" to whomever owns it . It will bought for a specific long term construction site like a huge dam or bridge.

But anyway you cut it , this is an amazing feat for this pump manufacture, kudos to you and all involved for raising the bar .

Boom. I am with you. I just do not get it at all. Putz had to force the 70 into this market. Especially now. Is there even a 70 left here in our market?

I thought we in our market learned our lesson about over buying and bigger is better.

One job in a 101 meters lifetime will not pay for the machine. Just a bragging right.

Watch Liebherr with the Waitzinger Brand. This will be the business senseable, productive machine. This is a great combination and great parent company. MADE IN GERMANY!!!!!! Owned and operated by Germans. It will be a quality first machine.

Impressive! Suspension looks a bit crushed in the first pic? $24,699.00 for the first four hours, $11,695.00 each additional hour and $1,275 to prime….

Show a video of it flat sticked, pumping a respectable yardage per hour and I would be a little impressed.

When is big just to big, or expensive, or setup to big. I think its time to look at the cost of ownership, cost to run a pump this size, and most of all how are you going to get it around town. I dont think most large citys around the world have streets for some of these crazy sized pieces of equipment being built these days. Its a little ridiculous. Want a record, do something with what you make now, oh but that might be hard, most have already been made. Its sort of like that Telebelt 200, it can only be used in very limited applications and is not really mobile.
