Check out this photo from 1970 of a Schwing pump used on one of the first ICF pours ever!  The job was in Oakville, Ontario.  We don’t think this one is pumping anymore… but we would love to see some photos of your oldest Schwing pumps in action.  What a testament to the engineering, mechanics and men (and women) who run them every day.

It is great to see Schwing equipment from the 80s and even some gate valve equipment from the 70s still going out and pumping concrete.  What is the oldest pump in your fleet that still goes out and pumps every day?

I do believe that machine belonged to Amherst Concrete Pumping in Toronto Ont.  

The 1st photo (and current leader) comes from Gary Brown at R.L McCoy.

This is an 1982 1201R/36 meter Schwing.  This pump was re-trucked in 1996 by Schwing's CPR company (www.concretepumps.com).

It has also been boom inspected by a certified boom insepector for the last 15 years.

Todd, I started on a Macaroy boom 65 ft. lattes boom and cable tip and a 600 tompson under it 4" system and hose between all 3 sections. on a international. interesting pumpto operate. also had toggle switches and had to blow out with air water and newpaper. it not around any more but it was quite the pump to learn on.

"Our 1983 Schwing KVM1001/31 Meter pumping a house foundation today in Federal Way, Washington. It was updated and rebuilt in 1990 (removed the gate valves and added rock valve) making it a KVM 1200/31 Meter. The truck was again rebuilt in 2001. We LOVE our Schwing Pumps! Contact me for the serial number. Thanks for the fun contest!"

1973 or 1974 (serial number 7020419) 800/23 Schwing gate valve. Today's pour was boom and 75 feet of 2.5 inch line pouring a basement floor in Ontario canada

THE PUMP YOU HAVE PICTURED IS A SCHWING APB-30 I RAN ONE LIKE THIS  IN THE EARLY 1970S FRONT WHEEL DRIVE IN FACT I WAS DRIVING ON I-94 E AND LOST FRONT WHEEL WHAT A THRILL GREAT PUMP  !

Fantasic to see the longevity of your Schwing.

The amazing thing is it is people like Bill who also took the time to train operators properly to maintain equipment like this to keep it running and how we apply it to the newer equipment. Operators have no idea what it took between owner/operators and the people who manufacture the equipment to get where we are now that we always neglect to thank.  So on behalf of a Generation of operators/owners thank you to people like Bill and manufacturers of the equipment we get to run today.

Bill Cross I rember that . You also took me out on that pump on one of first jobs at square lake road and telegraph for a bank vault pour for Utley James . Just had a boom inspectoin from the schwing guys and told them about the pump on how it was unfolded and how the early gates and plungers went together .

I apologize for my lack of info on my 23 meter. I'm the owner of norcon concrete pumping in Ontario Canada, the truck is a 1988 ford. It was re trucked when we purchased the unit in the late 90's, it certainly is a different game operating old pumps and it's incredible how advanced they are now. fun competition Schwing! Let's continue to see the old girls stay in service!

Bill   Small world, just today I ran into the guy who used to run that pump you sold to Preston Homes. It may be the same pump, or the twin to the one in the picture. He hasn't run a pump since then, but he did tell me the guy you sent to train him ( he said he looked like Santa Claus, and I believe I met him at Jimmy's) anyway he said he was an awesome teacher, and he'll never forgot the trials and tribulations of running that old gate valve.
