i ran one of those befor. all i gotta say is it will pump some nasty mixes but you gotta know how to work the vavles when you get packed in the gates. and if that doesnt work well you will learn lol. i gotta say out of all the pumps i have run befor i gotta say the whiteman kept me on my toes lol. its not a pump where its easy to clean like and s tube or rock valve. you cant water wash or blow a ball out. and to repair the rams on their is a big job for the pushers and the gate rams.

Those pumps treated me pretty good. Yes, they kept you on your toes. The main problem was that since they would pump anything; you spent a lot of time trying to empty the pipes of concrete that had no business there. Yes, the pump would pump it, but it did not have enough piston-face pressure to pound it very far. If the mix was even 1/2 way good you had a good day. Most operators that ran them tried to put rocks in there and see what happened.

They were like the gate valve Schwing... with out the Schwing power.

mmmmmmm, that's another reason I'm still seeing a therapist.Actually they would pump trash cans, used Datsuns, stop lights or anything else you could get in the hopper.

The down side was if one of the shafts for spade was bent/twisted it would hang up.Piston heads were a treat to change,oh and those pesky felts and wiper rings. The hyd system was well known for overheating.

I'm 99% sure I tossed the manuals I had from whiteman over the last couple of years. We made a decent living with them back then,oh and alot of heartburn as well.I don't even know if parts are available, must be I still see some for sale.

I have been off a whiteman for almost 17 years and I still have nightmares. If you really want to learn how to pump concrete run a whiteman, that should take the place of the simulator I've read about,as long as you don't mind working and you are a mechanical Mcgyver they are a very good pump for there time they just cant compete with the newer more operator friendly units available today. The only reason I would buy one would be to look at it and know I didn't have to run it,if I did have to operate it I believe I would call it quits,or hire you a full time therapists, massage therapists, mechanic, welder, pshyciatrists, then if all that doesn't help theres always the easy way out, just quit, but if your a pump operator that word probably isn't in your vocabulary.Good luck and god  bless your gonna need it.

Tho a p40 is a line pump, just the number designation sends shivers down my spine! They were the most fickle(and I'm being kind) pump to set up,they didnt have enough outrigger, and the aluminim tip could break off any time! I ran a P110 for 3 years, and never got a good nights sleep knowing I was going out on it again! The ONLY thing I did like about them was if the electrical went out(as it did on a regular basis) there was a mechanical overide for that system! The remote box was another story,it would confuse a electrical engineer!!

Is the 1982 Whiteman P40 a vertical gate type or an S-tube built by John at Conspray. I understood Whiteman stopped making the gate valve P40 a long time before 1982.
