JT:Well ,Pumping 1" is no real biggy, altho I wouldn't try it through a 3" hose. I would say that the "E" is the better choice, because of the hopper design, but it has its inherent problems too. If you do a deck pour and you trap air, some pumps with accumulators shift too fast to burp out the air, holding it at the top of the cylinder. It will pump full stroke, then pause for part of a stroke, then short stroke, then full stroke. To cure it you need to back up your short-stroke side to burp it. This can be very messy as mixerdrivers who let you suck air aren't paying attention anyway and you wind up having to have a backhoe dig you out!Now they have Soft-Stroke pumps that has made this problem rare. Now the air comes out the hose end. Around here EVERY mexican hoseman understands whats coming when you shout AIR!! Short-Rocks are good unless you are on a long long long pour, then some will build up under the rock and cause a pressure out on one side. You think your pumps messed up,but if youpump out and then drop your hopper door and chip out under the bottom of your rock valve, the problem goes away. So theres + & -'s to all your choices! Best go with what you know!!
