Seed,

There is 3/4 mix and then there is 3/4 mix.

I would not be at all afraid of a 3 1/2" pipe; but might want an alternative handy for a 3"........ ya never know ;~)

I use a 3 1/2" whip hose with a 4" end pretty regularly, and have pumped everything from a regular weight 3/4" stone mix down to a pea gravel mix through it, and never had a problem. Being that I only have to use a 5 to 4" reducer, it works out well for me every time. I am assuming you will reduce down to 3" though, since you said its a 3" wall pipe, but I would say go for it, shouldn't have a problem as long as its a creamy mix. Take your 4" pipe just in case though. We pump some pretty nasty mud here, not saying any names *cough*cough* Sunrock *cough*cough*, and as rocky and rough of a mix as it is, I still have pumped it through without a problem using my 3 1/2 whip hose. I just have to make sure its mixed well before they discharge in my hopper, and sometimes have to get the slump up a little higher to get it good and creamy.

We have a job (HUGE JOB) that all they have been using on the walls is a 3" wall pipe 20 footer and the only problem I have had is plugging up in the 4to3 reducer after sitting very long,All I do is every couple of minutes is push just a little mud out, other than that not a big deal!!!And of course dont pump real hard ,But thats a no brainer.....lol
