2001 36m Concord, wont stroke, wont shift???

Driver side cylinder all the way up, opposite cylinder all the way down. Turn the pump on and it pressures out in forward & reverse and wont shift? While watching in the water box the driver side rod moves an inch or two before pressuring out with 6"-8" of chrome showing above the dog-bone. The rod on the down stroke side wont move at all, while the up side moves 1"-2" before it gags. Almost as if the down side is bound up or stuck? The quarter valve at the top of the dif cyl. is open, the fwd/rev solinoid responds but does'nt change the direction of travel. I dont think its a shifting/switching issue because its locked up 4 or 5 inches before its supposed to shift? The down side not moving even a fraction of an inch is what worries me! The cutting ring is in good shape, the nut on the s-tube shaft is backed off a bit and the s-tube's not siezed. Anyone ever seen or heard of this before?????

I have had that happen with my schwing only a couple of times while trying to cycle it in the shop for maint. With the waterbox drained one mud cup will bind up. I actually had to squirt WD-40 down the cyl. and it broke free. Never did it again????? Dont know why it happened but its a easy fix to try.

TT, couple of things you might check:

-both fwd/rev solenoids must work simultaneously, or the pump cell will pressure out. Those are normally off (no power) when forward and powered to reverse, hold them both in manually to see if it free's up. That would indicate one spool is not free and replace the assembly.

-while it is pressuring over the relief, try manually depressing the right side "enable" button (has a small wire clip that can lock over it, one on left side for relief test/lock, one on right side for flow control or enable. The logic valve within that manifold (smaller one adjacent to water box) might be sticking.

-check return filter for metal, worst case scenario is the right side cylinder broken piston/rings.

Couple of things to try.

It has to make you feel good knowing that 2 manufacturers are willing to spend their time trying to fix a competitors pump.

T. T. you are in good hands

Yeah its great, I made 3 calls yesterday. 1 to Chris, 1 to Young and 1 to Noah but it was kind late in the day. I posted the problem last night and got replies from all 3 companies. Its a perfect example of how efficient and helpful this web-site is. So not only thanks to Loren & Chico Concord, but a big thanks to Concretepumping.com!!! Its worth my time to do stuff like this.......

Call Chico call Young from KCP you won’t find better guys in this industry for helping you out.

This morning at 8:00AM I started a 200 meter tilt up panel pour with 35 MPA  hot water and 1.5% accelerator. Primed the boom everything was good and before the first meter of concrete hit the ground the computer on our brand new 52 Meter Mack packed it in.

So no throttle and no way to override the Mack computer. I called Young on his cell and he was at the site in 20 minutes, and Chico was also on the way including a third KCP Electrical technician.

Within about 15 minutes Young figured out that it was the computer on the Mack, and with no other onsite options to repair it decided to kill the truck and reboot the computer by turning off the battery isolator.

I tried turning off the truck three times before this with no success yet this time isolating the batteries worked and we were back in the game and finished the 200 meter pour in three hours.

Washed it out, then getting on the road to drive to Mack and it packed it in again. Anyways the machine is at Mack now and will be ready by midnight.

Thanks to Young and Chico my day was a lot better than it could have been. Every time I go by their shop they fixing Putzmeister, Concord, Alliance and KCP, whatever anybody needs these guys seem to have the solution.

Talk is cheap, but as they say "It takes money to buy Wiskey".

Noah, our service manager @ Alliance nailed the issue as a failed Accumulator pump, well done!

Helping others is not a competitive sport.

The recipient is supposed to be the winner.

1st Choice, nice photo's.

If your MP8 ecu issues persist (and I understand the brand loyalty aspect), Alliance has special solutions to the Vcads challenges in regards to rpm controls and VSS in particular, whereby runtime logs faults and deration is experienced. We welcome all makes in our service department - the Mack issues affect everyone in the industry, and we strive to help.

Also, is your DPF Diffuser (bird cage on muffler) slightly in the way of the 1st cylinder nuckle when straight stick directly over that point (about one o'clock postion) ? Mack has been advised of that zone, and allows certain mods to improve working clearances.
