Installing refractory with a Blascrete MX-10 refractory pump. 3" line

Customer has to pump at several locations withing a 120' tall structure and wants to install a piping system so he does nto have to paya  contractor to rebuild every year.

Customer likes to do this work in January in Alberta Canada and it could be -40F and we will HAVE to pump.

Has anyone had experiece doing this?

call Dynamic Concrete in Calgary... they have this experience and also pump all winter in simular conditions as you have stated.....403-236 9511.. They also operate a large equipment service and parts businesss in Calgary called  "RJ Concrete Equipment"  www.rjconc.com and can supply and sell you pipes clamps and hardware as well as all concrete equipment related parts, best part is they also offer full service facility with night shift so maintenence can be done at night and we can pump during the day.... good luck this winter!!!

Nice to deal with as well. They should put a link up here to show what they can do.

Up here in N MN the smart RM plants wait for at least 0 * F for the high of the day. or better yet 10 F. I've headed out in -15 and pumped in -5F but its not advisable. For one thing the RM trucks freeze up. Brakes freeze the water system is a night mare. You'll find the below zero days are numbered you just have to watch the forecast and wait

-40 is really a can of worms. Not to mention triple if not quad the price to do.. trks would have no water on board, and depending on travel time dry mix them or batch onsite. All exposed equiptment would need heat and insulation to make it work, just things you probably are aware of. There is synthetic concrete on the market, very pricey, or go the tent city route. Would be an interesting thing to coordinate, or see.

I would like to see anyone pump concrete in weather below -20f That is friggen cold. At( -40F not wind chill) if you go out side to even get something out of your car you have to time it, because in about 2 minutes your skin will freeze. Your car won't start. I've had it so cold the paint peeled off my truck. Next time one of you boys are out pumpen below zero take a thermometer I want to see. I know about cold Tower MN holds the coldest spot in the USA. 50 miles from me. -65F

i was talking to a couple of finishers that had been pouring up in yellowknife recently, they were having a hard time because if they stopped troweling the slurry would freeze onto their tools after only a few seconds... lol turned out ok in the end though

Theres more to pumping in -40, and it is comen sense, any northern pump company would have experiances, ask a few in your area. Dynamic was a west coast firm, but no doubt has its ideas also.
