If all functions are slow, it may be the hydraulic pump, but if it’s only some, then it will be the pressure regulator or electronic/software. Highly recommend hiring a serviceman, it’s a delicate and complex system that can be messed up badly if you just start turning things. Good luck.

Slow Boom Movement on a 55m Schwing

If all your boom functions are moving slowly despite:

  • Making pressure adjustments
  • Checking flow meter output
  • Having Vector settings at 100% for all functions

This could be caused by several issues:

Possible Causes

  1. Hydraulic pump issues - This is likely if ALL functions are slow
  2. Pressure regulator problems - Can affect specific functions
  3. Electronic/software issues - Particularly if settings appear correct but performance doesn't match

Recommendation

For a 55m Schwing with comprehensive slow movement across all boom functions, I strongly recommend hiring a qualified service technician rather than attempting further adjustments yourself. The hydraulic systems on these large boom pumps are complex and sensitive - improper adjustments can cause significant damage or safety issues.

The service technician will be able to properly diagnose whether it's:

  • A failing hydraulic pump
  • Worn components
  • Control system issues
  • Calibration problems

This approach will save you time and potentially prevent costly damage to your equipment.
