I've got a 93 Mack with oil coming out the air drier...lots of oil! Heres whats been tried so far. First reman compressor and drier filter. No luck....must be a bad reman so #2 compressor...no better. The shop I work with comes up with turbo seals leaking and at idle its filling the air intake so new turbo...nope! Shop thinks still bad reman so Compessor #3...NOPE! They call reman people who thinks its the wrong drier on truck so new drier and filter but still not it. This has been over the last 3 months and everywhere i go big oil puddles not to mention all that oil affecting who knows what in the rest of the air system?????? |

I sure hope you are not paying for any of these parts and labor at your shop (which btw you may want to consider switching) the turbo is not anywhere near connected to the air system, if a turbo leaks oil it either goes back into the sump or you blow it out of the exhaust (black cloud when you start the engine); if they suspect a bad reman compressor, did they switch to a different brand, possibly new compressor? once you replaced the reman compressor, did the oil start to come out of the dryer immediatley or was that a slow process? without looking at the truck, it could be the drive pinion, that drives the air compressor, may have a bad bearing and it starts to wobble and right away damages the shaft seal of the compressor |

Thanks GBOOM . The original compressor leaked about half as much as when the first reman went on and its been consistantly about the same. The shop i use needless to say is embarrassed and they haven't charged beyond the first compressor, in fact they left the $1200 turbo on the truck after I told them to go ahead and put the old one back on. Everything else they have done for me has been real good and I know this is a struggle for them but still good service. I will mention the bearing working the seals to them. |

Oil came out on the first job each time. They think they have it fixed after running the truck for a bit but I think while they do that its just filling the new drier filter. |
