A little love for the MR MACK

I have been fortunate enough to be around concrete pumps for the last 35 years. We have had meny styles of trucks over the years. Since 1988 we have had MR Macks under our boom pumps and have been loving them. Our sites in Vancouver Canada often have inches to spare and no other truck gets in there like a MR Mack. For us it's not about looks it's about practical aplication. So I say thank you Mack and keep up the good work!!!

Been a great truck. Just over rated in MOST applications. Maybe not yours.

Everyone has their likes and dislikes about trucks, pumps and more.

Just for all the driving the operators do I think a nice ride but still do the job as well is deserved.

Check you fuel milage as well. Mack to a Freightliner. There is about a 40% difference compared to the Cummins with a 10sp to the MR.

When your getting 4 to 5 miles to a gallon its still a big difference at the cost of fuel.

Let me count the ways I love you

your doors always rattle the sweetest tunes

your windows always let the mourning rain in

your windshield always crack/leak in fantastic places

your wonderfull cab jacks brighten each day

your pleasing air conditioning on those hot summer days

Let me count the ways I love you

WAIT a second... If you have only been driving MACK trucks since 1988 I can imagine you think they are great..

But sstt...  let me tell you a secret... The other brands have gone forward since then Wink

I love the mack also. And as far as sucking driving, my company is pumping not driving.  We do most of our jobs in a 1 to 2 hour drive at most.  And if my operators don't like the drive I tell them to stop milking it and get to the job faster, lol.

So the ride is a little rough and the space is a little cramped. YOUR AT WORK! Its not happy fun time! Suck it up and pump your mud. Your company benifits from the durability of a Mack. Company success equals operator success.pretty

You haven't had to deal with any of their emission issues obviously.

Cadillac? NO, but let me tell you they are a dependable Tank. I run mine through mud holes, up mountains, through snow banks, down deer trails get stuck and pulled out of God awful areas i shouldn't be in, drive daily down bumpy 20 mile dirt roads. Many weeks i travel 1000 miles. Yes they are tough.

Oh, i also drove a 1990 volvo GM white for 4 years i prefer the Mack.

As i have mentioned before in another, similar topic, i still dont understand why Volvo or Mercedes did not bring their cabovers from Europe to the US. I believe, if they did, everyone of you would be sitting in one of their cabovers, including the trash truck driver,

Purchase price, fuel economy, available axle configurations/weight distribution, on-site maneuravability, reliability, durability, parts and service support: all legitimate deciding factors in which chassis  the owner of a concrete pumping will choose to put under his next machine.

cupholders, interior noise level, ride comfort, A/C performance, and "nap-friendly" cab layout... seriously???

Problem is that its just to stupid that in 2013 these things are not standard on every truck.

Volvo from 1990?? Hello thats 23 years ago Yell

Yah Dipstick, it was like straddling a hot Caterpillar motor. Sad when i watched it cross the border to mexico.(i'm sure its still pumping down there) Although it was a good ole truck in which I started my business.

I still remember the days. Sweat pouring off my face tongue hanging out, trying to find gears with a line of traffic behind,  waiting for 55MPH.

In Macks since 1981, and now in a Condor! And (gasp) I LIKE IT! More room, visibility about the same,MORE room, AC works GREAT! MORE ROOM! POWER MIRRORS!  And you can turn it around in places you couldn't park a Mack! What I dont like... Limited front axle travel(or I should say unlimited, as the tires will lift into the fenders) Feeling like a sitting duck sitting in front and on top of the front tires! Parts are hard to get! American LaFrance bought the design, and the parts inventory from Frieghtliner/Sterling and sometimes its a bear to set hard parts due to part# crossover! Cooling system issues! It EATS fan clutches!! We're trying a new design...we'll see....
