It's a simple rule: "Don't put your: (fingers, hand, arm, toes, foot, leg, head....) where you wouldn't put 'Mr. Happy'." And some places you choose to put Mr. Happy are not safe, either. ('Nuff sed)

The only people who are goin to win now are lawyers. We had a diivy some years ago who lost 3 fingers after he took the wash box guard off then stuck his fingers in while the pump was strokin to clear ice, he sued 3 years later. He lost and it stil cost us 5k in lawyers fees.

That type a thing is never good the here about, but maybe, just maybe, the press reports and industry reports that come from this incident will reach that one guy, and save him from the same fate.  On a second note,  I'll guantee you that this guy was "that guy".  The one guy on the crew that no matter what you tried to teach, show, or tell him, the response was; "oh, I know, I know, I know" before you could even finish your sentence.  He knew it all, but I bet he don't think so anymore.  Truly to bad.  I feel sorry for him.  Accidents and accidents, but putting any appendage inside any part of an operating pump, sorry to sound cold, but you get what you deserve.

My Momma sez: 'stew-pid iz az stoo-pid duh-uz." Is Darwin or God at work there? (perhaps a conspiracy)

Accidents like those are more often due to arrogance rather than ignorance. Anyone smart enough to have a drivers license has enough sense to know better.

Besides freak accidents involving stored accumulator pressure etc. It usually happens to someone that knew exactly what they were doing but figured they were smarter & faster than their machine.
