i wasnt there when it was replaced so im not sure if there was any pressure springs went in. from what i was told they had to replace the cutting ring because they were loosing the liquid from the concrete every time they pumped

Well if they used the old one again and it was in bad shape that could definitely be your problem. Or the wear plate.

Yes there is a new way to set the cutting ring.

Short story, Clean all parts and install cutting ring and pressure spring

Tighten the large nut on the back up untill the cutting ring contacts the spec plate but is not compressing the spring, this is the Zero Point.

From this point tighten the large nut 180 Deg or 1/2 turn clockwise.

This will give you exactly 1.5 mm of compression on the pressure spring. To tight and you will bind, to loose and you wil jack against concrete in the parts.

You MUST start clean, dont just tighten or you are compressing grout.

Dont forget to re torque the Pinch bolts aprox 150 Ft lbs.

The old way of measuring the gap is not very consistant, this gives a more consistant pressure spring tension.

Please look over all the rest of the components while you are back there for wear and damage.

If you tighten the cutting ring while dirty, you are asking for trouble.  It may shift with with water in it while testing it but it will most likely bind up when you get the concrete in the hopper. Start clean, save your self the grief of locking it up.
