I cant say I've ever used one and I've only seen a couple. I have a job coming up that will require an 18'. 3" tremme and an air cuff would work great for boomin from wall to wall etc. I've asked around a little about how much a sleeve type air cuff costs and it looks like I may go another 18 years without one. Unless of course $1400.oo was off the mark. (1) What do they cost? (2) Does anyone have one laying in their toolbox they'd like to part with? (3) Any locals here in my area that might consider renting me one for a couple month$? I already have air plumbed down the boom. I made one that works OK but it'd be nice to have the real deal. (looks better/more professional) Thanks. TT |

I made one to fit over the 3" hose before the tremme. I cut a 12" piece off the end of a 5" whip hose (wire bound). I used (2) 4" inflatable pressure test plugs (70psi) used for testing pipe lines. I fully deflated them and placed them opposite each other in between the 3" hose and the 5" sleeve (tight fit!) . The ball plugs have valve stems just like an innertube or tire. I removed the valve pins so air can be released, both are plumbed into a 'T' then to the air hose on the boom with a quarter valve and bleeder back at the truck. When air is applied the plugs inflate and pinch the 3" hose off. When the air is released it opens & flows. I was surprised that it only took 40psi to do the trick. I like that it's all rubber, besides some small brass hardware. |

Looks simple enough TT and looks like it would work pretty good, Only draw back I see is having to be at the truck to pressurize it, nice to have a blow off right at the cuff too. The set up I use has and a small 3- 5 second delay on the pump as cuff deflates with a blow off at the truck and the cuff, works off the Pump switch on the remote. |
