you need to make your first load of concrete wetter than the rest the slick pak draws the water out of the concrete so you have to replace the water you have lost to slick pak they say it dosnt but i think its got a use by date i had some in my truck for some time when i went to use one bag it would not gell up so i put in a second bag still the same started pumping only for it to block up in the tip bends with slick pak i allways put it stright in the hopper hope this helps you out and check out how old the bags are

Well I almost didn't say anything here but oh well.Auger in reverse, mud at specified slump, slick pac mixed with about 7-8 gal water in hopper, first 1/4 yard use a little water from hose (not all that much),start discharge, nail it for maybe 3 strokes and back off it to your normal prime speed.

What you just did was was auger helped keep the boney first part out of throat, you pushed the prime ahead of the mud,you slowed down as to not let the mud push past your prime.Oh then forwaed on auger.

happy trails

I run a putzmeister and this is how I do it. Mix a bag of slick pack in a five gallon bucket. Fill it to the brim. Let it sit for a minute while you are doin other stuff. While it sits all the gel will come up to the top and the water will settle to the bottom. Open your primer port and start to dump the gel into the port until you get to the water. Dont dump the watewr in there, discard it somewhere that it will not create a muddy mess. Probably shouldnt dump it on pavement either as it still has some of the slick pack in it. After you have done that repeat the process over again with a second bag. But this time save the water and dump it in to that first hopper full of mud. Allow the agitator to mix it for a second and start your prime. Start off fairly quick and slow it as you hear it about to hit the tip section to make sure you are not tryin to JAm it through the reducer. Just pump it nice and steady til you get it through. Has never failed for me. I have primed over 200 feet with this method. 4 inch system, 3 inch system whatever. Seems to me that if you put the water in with the slick pack it likes to seperate the head of the concrete as it rolls along causing it to rock pack either in the reducer or alot of times in the first hose. Hope this helps!

ruck, almost forgot. As a rule of thumb 1 pack for boom and 1 pack for every 100' thereafter.Hence boom plus 200'=3 bags.

I really don't know what you or your company charges per bag but that extra $9-10 bucks I will gladly pay to get it in one shot.

We used to use Fritz pack primer don't no more. I have seen it with my own eyes that primer suck the water right out of the concrete in the hopper when priming out. It's still good stuff makes alot of slime. But found something better IMHO. To each his own.

My belief is the biggest key is to mix your primer pack WELL in advance of when you want to use it. Mix in hopper at the yard, or with primer port mix in bucket before you even start to set up. You have to allow it all the time it needs to absorb all the water it wants to so it wont take it from your head of concrete. Good luck.
