I may retruck one of my 32's and about all I can find is an MR with an Allison Ht740 series automatic trans. Does anyone run auto trans trucks? What is the durability? Hows the MPG? Maintenance? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave |

HI: I operate a 47m S**** with an "Mack-amatic"aka the Allison. It takes some getting used to,as I just got my left foot out of the cast from trying to stomp the clutch and brake.Seriously,I LIKE IT!I It's a lazy shifter,I'd shift more, but it trys to do what its asked. Off road, you have to think"computer"!The converter will not lock up unless asked! To 'ask you' have to engage the interaxle and select "1" on the shifter console. Then it'll work right! Mileage I couldn't tell you other than with my 'fat truck' around 8gals per pump and travel. Longevity,I dont know! Ive got 135000+ no problems but Mack service is EXPENSIVE, 30+qts synthetic,is around $450 |

You never worry about a missed shift. You do not need to worry about drive line shock, pto shock, snapped axles.........etc It is a wonderful tool. |

I spoke to some owners of the Auto tran's. They ALL had good things to say (100% is unusual) about them. They have all experienced fewer problems with the final drive components because of the auto tran's. I hope that this helps you. PUMP SAFE ;~) |
