no excuses, didnt have one i did a system pour last week and someone snatched to rin the hose end with it, shame on me cause i know better ,in my defense however i told my boss i should have 2 extra just in case, im still waiting on them,but hows my dunnage

It is not an either or deal, but you could have at least put a safety pin in the 4" clamp. What I mean to say is that you SHOULD do both - pin clamp and strap. To do neither because you could not do bot his spurious at best.

heybob, i used a double headed nails on each clap and bent them, i also asked my boss to buy me a box of saftey clips for my entire boom,still waiting, as for the strap issue ill post a pic of the ones im making, probably next week or so, howerver meticulous and scroutinizing u may be, i appreciate it cause i know u care about our saftey.

always use safty pins.  make you keep your clamps clean and will significantly decrees this...

toper  keep postin your pic.  the more we know, the safer we are.  your truck gets you to and from the site.  if you have to setup a little back and use a hose, it sucks but better then being on the side of the highway at 2000h.

   If you dont have a strap/sling, chances are you DO have the supplied cable directly attached to the tip section. Loose the reducer, put on your 5" or 41/2" whip with the cable choked to the hose. Explain the situation or simply tell'em your reducer is shot or your 4" whip has a flapper inside of it. Or my personal favorite "It is a 4" ID hose with 1" thick rubber for longer life and durability!" I have yet to see a pour cancel due to an operator being safe? Should they continue to piss & moan ask them... "Would you like me to call my Mom to come and run the hose for you?" (last resort ofcourse)
