that model pump old 28 meter back out riggers come down on a angle they dont extend .looks like he set up on soft ground '

I don't know if it were soft ground you'd think the drivers front wheel would also be on the ground as the out rigger sank. It looks like he was using all 4 outriggers as the rear don't swing out on that pump.  Maybe he tried lifting something 

Without knowing the cause and amount of accidents out there at the moment it's only a matter of time till a 3 year traineeship for booms and hoists comes into effect before anyone can get a certificate to operate plant of that type.

That is life pumpfinish.  Anyone can sell concrete...

I work at power plants quite often and its extensive to get in with their check points and requirements, another certification requirement would be a big hassle lol

I agree with Mister Perkins, more red tape might not be the answer. Think of it this way, just because you have a ACPA cert. card that dosent make you a great operator. Proper training, a good teacher, and experience are all hallmarks of a successful pump operator. How many operators do you know that have the certs but are lousy at their job? Some times i get the impression that cert. cards are more like an expensive reciept, and less of a declaration of ability or competence by those that hold them. Just my humble opinion.

Okay buddy. im just saying that its pretty ridiculous the amount of certifications you need anymore. I grew up running pumps getting trained by my father since I was 9. I am now 26 and love running pumps and belts still to this day. when I first started learning pumps I never had certifications or cdl or anything. my grandpa paid me under the table to help around the shop and on the jobs. I learned everything I know without certifications. I dont need a verification or certification to show that I know what im doing. in the entire time ive pumped concrete im constantly learning, do my job to the best of my ability, keep a positive attitude on the job and keep customer relationships positive every time I leave the job. sure we all have our days where it seems like nothing is going right, but at the end of the day as long as the equipment is clean, and the customer is happy. that's what matters. you can say what you'd like about who I am and what im about, but you dont know anything about me or what kind of operator I am. I have every certification you could ever need for pumping concrete, but they are all worthless in my opinion. all I said was it sucked going though 10 security checks, flipping your cab up, having search dogs sniffing around your truck, pissing in a cup, shaving your face so you can have a sealed respirator or having a security guard shadow you with an ak47 on a job. I do commercial and residential work, and I like both. but the power plant jobs suck every time I go. theres nothing wrong with having that opinion and it doesn't change my work ethic or attitude when im on the job. thanks for your input though

Maybee Mr Perkins had a good lengthy pumping traineeship under his old man.

The whole scenario is this: 'inexeperienced people working on line pumps for 6 months and then operating booms'. It should be changed to a traineeship program. This would also mean that operators use the machinery as its designed to be used less accidents, repairs, insurance goes down etc.

These green operators under the illusion of making a quick buck with a high risk machine. Mind you these are the guys that are dropping their pants to undercut the job off the other guy who's been around since the beggining of time.

These are the guys when going for the basic boom test are given the answers to the questionaire by their instructor. Quick money for licenses. Big rort. Problems in the industry.

20 odd years ago, there was a non existent papertrail, but there wasnt a day when there was some sort of accident involving a concrete pump, you just didnt hear about it because NO internet, NO mobile phones, NO Social media...etc The accidents haven't stopped, but now you are aware of them as they happen.

I cant believe the operators today show so much arrogance for operating a machine for such a short amount of time and When presented with a job is too challenging they just drive away.

Thats how it is out there are the moment anyway.
