In Irelenad you don't have such harsh winters. In my opinion it should do to just empty all the water. Blow it out with air and leave all the taps open. Fill the water tank in the morning and it should be ok. Don't do any waterwashing the boom pipes. Just suck a ball or 2 and keep it dry in there.. Preheating the boom if it realy gets cold is a good idea. What kind of pump do you drive?

drain water and using air pressure to blow them out works really good

make sure to open your hopper door open too to let the snow fall through so it doesn't melt and freeze. and keep your cups half way down

Plug it in at night. Always do a walk around before you leave the yard. Make sure your brake lights are off.(Don't laugh, you won't believe how many times I've heard this happen) Park in a spot where you know the sun will hit the entire unit first thing in the morning. Wrap some insulation and bubble wrap around your ball valve/drain valve on your water tank. This will help you from freezing up and cracking while driving down the highway to the jobsite. It's also a neat idea to put a shut off right at the water pump with a T-fitting for your air supply after the shut off.(It's not a good idea to blow air back through certain types of water pumps) If it's a grundfos style water pump that's mounted on top of resevoir, it will be fine just to drain your tank, if it's any other style mounted on the frame, attach T-fitting to the bottom of water pump with a ball valve. Open this and gravity should be suffice. Another idea could be installing a quick coupler so you can disconnect your water hose and keep it in the cab until you need it. Everything depends on which type of water pump set up you have on your rig. By using ball valve shut off's, you only put water through your system when you choose to. Remember, advice is only advice. (Keep a blow torch handy, spare fittings, valves, spare water hose in case you get in a jam. With these things on board, you're giving yourself half a chance to clean out.) Always drain your water box. A good time to do this is during your wash out. Good luck this winter!

drill a small hole in the quarter turn valves right below the valve

Even if you don't typically have super cold winter's up there, prepare yourself for that one wreched night. It's no different than a bad load of mud. It only takes one to complety ruin your day!

Yes now I remember. We just had a coupling right under the waterpump. Disconected that one and then we blow air through the pipes.. Goos tips! I would by the way drain my waterbox completely..

Drain your material cylinder box right off, then take your water hose off, drain your water tank with opening valve on the way home (don't worry about iceing up the road :) plug it in and your good to go.. oh hot water tank heaters are gods gift.

Anything that holds water drain it. I have a set up our pump to run windshield washer threw the water pump to keep it from freezing. Driilling the ball valves to drain them so far hasn't worked for me they still freeze and crack. I change out the hyd. to 32 in winter and back to 46 in summer along will the filters. I don't pay for the hyd. oil or filters LOL. Block heater if it works use it. Drain the air tanks at nite.
