Im never really in a bad mood when Im pumping. I get more in a bad mood when I have nothing but yard work to do. When Im pumping Im happy because I love my job.

The best & easiest part of my day begins as soon as I put it in pump gear. Although some days the boom is a little rougher than others?

bad mood,  my smoke cloud is the only happyness you'll be seeing from me.  one thing i love about pumping, is i dont have to talk to people.  the only thing that needs to be said is to the super  what are we going, were are we starting.  to the mixer, within spec.  hand signals are a god send.  if you dont know em when pushing my hose around, pump off make him walk to the pump and show him the book.  " EH, theres only fourteen of em, we aint talkin morse code here"

sometimes you get put on a pump that suffers from neglect. whether it be the yard dog pump, or just a pig operator. whatever. first thing; remote takes a shit. ok fine. hard wire it is, but it's a 46m putz so black and white all day. contractor wants to go through trees instead of busting form and giving me clear sight lines to the paving slab, fine. busting tree limbs all day and yelling at laborers to stay out from under said trees and boom is sooooo much fun. add to that plugging up in the prime out due to a giant chunk of 90 build up that the last guy left in it, and you know it's operator fault when you look at the hopper and see the 6 inch rim of concrete left over due to lazy wash out. FUN! also when i'm bringing it back through the trees is when i realize that there are no pins in the clamps because my tip 90 falls right off and the sad excuse of a safety strap busts off. put it back together, ok! let's see what else. being accused of priming hoses out too fast after clearing blockage. meanwhile i have the throttle up high enough to get pistons moving and the volume on four ( way too fast eh?). it's fun getting thrown right under the bus by the mechanics you work with who happened to be close enough to job to help you get the pump clear... on top of all of this i get to the yard and my boss tells me i'm the asshole in this scenario because my attitude turned to shit and the contractor cried about it. asking me if i want to keep working there or not, telling me i need to take better care of the equipment. meanwhile my perfectly pristine pump is sitting in the yard collecting rust because they can't seem to figure out how to put a 52m to work while all of our other big booms are going out and i'm stuck running the company piles just to get some hours in. i take pride in my job, that's why when i operate my pump i get call backs. but that hasn't been happening a lot lately so i get a little frustrated when something doesn't work right. sue me. or better yet fire me. as long as i don't kill someone or total a pump i'll be able to get work. maybe not right now in this economy, but eventually.

I feel ya JohnJohn!!...Customers Only tell management about the 10 minutes of "Bad Attitude" you get They NEVER tell them about the 45 minutes you spent trying to explain to them Why or Why not some thing will work. They never say any thing about the unsafe crap they are trying to get you to do.Or my favoriteis how when things do go wrong And you go into,.."Time to get shit done" mode To get the boom cleanded out or what have you,All they say is He's an asshole and his attitude is ALL wrong.I AM SORRY but thats NOT THE CASE. I have a million dollar peice of equipment that I am responsible for.I am going to handle my business and take care of the pump.NOT stand there and kiss a contractors ass and tell him how great he is and BLAH BLAH BLAH!!.I have been called in on as wellonce or twice....

Ok here is the senario..60 degrees out side,2% NCA,HOT WATER,4000psi concrete,5inch slump. And a 47 meter Schwing.Pumpin along and we stop for a minute.Go to start back up..NOTHING..But I Still have the boom..Ok so I go to the pump and check all my switches watch the hand valve is still moving back and forth like its supposed to..Check the accumulator gauge...A big FAT 0..So I stand on the hopper grate its down Blah blah blah!!.RUNNIN out of time remeber the mix!!...I tell the contractor "Well I think my accumulator just shit the bed,I have the boom but NO PUMP.I need to blow the boom out"..HE tells me "Are you kidding??".."NOPE!!".then he says "your gonna hafta move to do it I have to pour this slab out" SO I go into "It's time to get shit done" MODE. got moved got the boom cleared and the hopper washed out BARELY!! SAVED THE PUMP BUT I WAS THE ASSHOLE in the deal!!

And yeah you guys should see my old pump "before and NOW....WOW!!!!!!!
