My agitator shaft is bent or warped and it is causing the hydraulic motor to leak again. I don't know what causes this or how to straighten it? Any ideas? thanks. Its a 02 Schwing 32 M style hopper. |

Had the same problem on a 1997 32M I used to drive. I replaced it with a new agitator shaft. That solved having to replace those drive motor seals. |

Maybe cutting the end off and squaring it up would work if its weldable. good idea |

Worth a try but that shaft will usually bend or warp in the middle. That is usually where the most concrete is dumped over it |

Is that shaft hollow? Today while pumping i was looking at it and there is an area where the mud drops on it and it is thinner . Still two inches plus, but must be hollow to be bent. i might take it out straighten and build it up with metal strips. |

If it is showing to be thin, you may not have a whole to weld with. Don't know if that shaft is hollow or not, I would assume it is not. I have carried that agitator shaft before, there is good bit of weight in it. If you go that route, make sure you get the shaft as straight as you can. I know it can be painful($$) to order a new shaft, but that might be your only option. |

I 've had a kind of simular peoblem with the agitator. when my sching was new ('08)the first half year the drive motor shaft was broken twice. One time can happen, second time we did more inspection. It seemed that the side wall of the hopper was not flat ( a bend or a dent) after some pulling an pushing we got everything in line and it never has happend again |

Good to know. im thinking of pounding it straight then welding some reinforcement strips on the sides. its really just in one spot. Now i wonder if just a seal kit will fix the new hydro motor? its only a few months old.

Probably happened when someone took the hopper off for Rock Valve or face plate , spec plate repair. They probably pulled hopper top off with their boom hoisting from the middle of the shaft. How do I know, cause I've done it. You have to hoist from the ends close to the agitator bearings. I was able to tie a strap to the middle of the shaft and gently pull the shaft straight with my boom. I then loosened the bolts on the shaft at the ends and ran it. the next day concrete got in the gaps and the shaft was virtually straight. Not perfect but it was a fix I could live with. Quick Cheap Effective OR you could pony up and buy a brand new one. |

With the AGITATOR TURNING heat the center of the shaft red hot and let it cool. |

It has a bend just to the left of center, i might try heating it and bending it with something. |

You don't have to bend it . Heat and let cool while runnig . The shaft will find its own center. |
