We replacing are 2" hoses. Are we better jumping up to 2 1/2"? We run a tk 50 with about 100' of 2" pipe when possible. Most jobs are under 250' an we run 3" wen doing big rock. Is it worth upgrading to 2 1/2

I would use the biggest hose you are comfortable using. The bigger the hose, the easier to pump through and it will give you a bit better wear.

when you do the math you get 50% more volume over the two inch hose and the same with three inch over two and half. I buy fifty footers divided by three, makes up a seventeen foot hose. they are easier to handle and can dump them out relatively quick. you can not do that with a twenty five footer without getting beat up and it takes too long to resume pumping that is the priority.

we use 2 1/2" , I used to use 2" but after using 2 1/2" , I very rarely reduce down to 2, we rarely have issues pumping through 2 1/2 where as with 2" seemed as though one large rock would cause a plug , we use 25 foot hoses , but the 17 ft sounds like a sound idea.

What about weight difference? Can u still man handle two an half like 2

Most pumpers in the LA market are moving from 2" hose to 2-1/2' ID hose as the mixes and materials continue to get worse.

A 2" x 25ft hose weighs on average about 45-50 #

A 2-1/2" x 25ft hose would be around 60-65#

yeah not much difference in 2 and 2 1/2 weight wise , if you cut back to 20 ft . I would think it would be about the same

i found 2 1/2 very forgiving.  will let the bad 2" mix design loads go by.

i like the 20ft hoses.  agreed, shorter hoses drain and go quicker.  17 sounds real nice.
