Were making a decision on a paint job for my pumper tommorow. Our colors are red, black and white, but I also need a good design so the truck doesnt have to be our colors. My truck is a '04 putz Z boom. Any pictures or links would be greatly appreaciated. |

A good start would be the putz website. http://putzmeister.com/support/paint/index.cfm |

My advice is be sure to pick a paint color that you can match off the shelf for touch up. It is a drag to buy touch up paint for twenty dollars a can! |

My opinion on all this fancy paint and chrome is. I have been in the concrete industry for 40 years. This North Amerian Market is the only market wrapped up in paint and chrome on Concrete Pumps. Look in Europe. They paint like excavation equipment, trucks are for the most part NOT all chromed out and pimped up. The trucks are comfortable, and durable. They are more concerned on performance and low cost to maintain. Actually to make a profit in their business. I look at many of the large successful concrete contractors and pumping contractors. Most. Not all. Use a pretty simple paint scheme. They are focused on profits. Yes I am old school. But it seems our pumps are the hardest used equipment out there. Splashed with COncrete, worked hard. Takes big time and dollars to keep these fancy paint jobs looking good. You can spend a lot less time and money on a modest paint job to maintain and spend more money on the maintaining the actually working parts better and safer. Just an opinion. They look great. I really like seeing the paint work, BUT. What is actually gained in profits and in performance to achieve profits.??? My feeling is to get back to basics. Making profits.

There's much to ba said about your opinions. If one looks at a pump you may just need graphic's.They are cheap (for the most part) and can be removed.Once a unit is painted your stuck with it.I believe I would at least venture out to a good graphic's shop and come up with something simple but distinctive. If one is as anal about a clean pump, then OE3's pump should be an award winner.Problem is allot of operators just don't care and when they lose interest the pump suffers.I always loved shiny tires and wheels and it took allot of work, especicially when I got a 52m.I would wax my boom, polish the wheels, use tire shine and paid for every bit myself. That folks is called "pride" |

I agree with you Many. All the way. I am a clean freak. And in maintaining personal cars and trucks long with work stuff. Pride is a huge part of success and making profits for sure. I am just telling what I have observed over the many years. I have to say from my experience the nicest paint jobs have not always been the most successful. But. Lets leavy it in your context. PRIDE. Keep the glass half full that way. |

That's for sure.I guess I was caught up in the concord pic's,very simple graphic's.Like the pic of that 63m,wow.I can only imagine the work involved to keep that puppy clean.I do like shiny wheels and tanks,up till some fool gets lazy and ruins them.I always hated acid of any sort, and to think of what it does to the product. We guarentee it won't harm aluminium, yeah right.I have worn out more gasket scrapers/putty knifes that should be allowed.Your right about the simple approach, even bbcp has simplified there units over the years. Some very clean units to boot, well for the most part. |

on the head many.you pull up on a job with a clean shinney pump with polished chrome everyone notices it ,instant relief .shine means work ,driveing down the road is advertiseing your company and reflects on the driver.i dont want everyone to think im a pumping pig thats just in it for tha $$$.there is alot to be said about pride.personaly i would not want a nasty dirty pump or operator on my job.nothing worse than pulling onto a work site and everyone asks if that thing is going to last for the job. pick a good paint and graphix,as much chrome as posible and take pride in you ride.. |

I'll second that brother! I know the red will hide the crete splatter well but the white is a B!tch! And Zoop Seal for the wheels keeps 'em shinin for a while. |

My days at bbcp provided me with some interesting/nice equipment.Although they were never really into all the fancy stuff, they did the basic colors (few exceptions).I ran an old 36m heavy for awhile with those sharcropper (daytons) wheels. There was one term I hated with a passion (pigpen) and could never let that happen to me. I did have a contractor's call in on me several times, not what you think. When early, waiting on mud I was always doing something.I have to say there was only one other operator at our branch that would wax the boom.Often spend sat-sun doing a boom clean on my own nickel.Pride says allot about ones self,I admire oe3 as he set an example for all of us.
