Right ive seen a few guys on youtube pumping water through the boom pushing out the conc. To me that is crazyness if it segragates then your in BIG trouble! On trunk pumps i suck the ball back once then retrieve the ball and suck back again with a bucket of water. Im not actually 100% sure what the correct procedure from Putz or Scwhing is when it comes back to the correct procedure, I know lots of people have different methods but im interested in what peoples thought and actions are?

Water washes are great but you have to know what you are doing. I have done many but the operator who taught me had it down to an art, he also said when he was learning he broke open pipe on many occasions. Sucking a ball or water wash in the end as long as you are clean that is all that matters. Remember keep your hopper clean and free of build up because if you dont the piece that breaks of and plugs you will most likely happen on a day when it is pissing rain or on a night pour or on a Friday of a long weekend... |

volume all the way down, soaked sponge pushed in end elbow, put pump in reverse until ball comes back (ting ting). You pull the ball back once and your good to go. |

I haven't had any priming issues either using this method either. I use a go-devil every once in a while just to make sure the pipe is clean, but generally just pull a single sponge |

This topic seems to come up every couple months..... doesn't matter if you suck back or water wash. Both work and bottom line is the pipe being clean at the end of the day and both ways do it. Whichever way you were taught and are comfortable with is best. |

No ting ting on my twin wall pipe. I throw about 5 gallons of water into end elbow and suck back a ball as slow as possible. I treat my water like its money. Dont have time to keep filling it up. |

The 31 has been a great pump. Have had a couple small issues but now it runs like a champ. It amazing how smooth it is on the bigger pours. Still trying to get use to the small tip section since I am use to running our 40. Need to ditch the heavy aluminum pads really soon.

I used to just pull back a 10" square sponge, but now pull back a 10" square sponge with a 5" hardball wrapped with 2 walmart bags. I know this cleans the boom, but am going to start pulling 2 sponges with the ball, just because it makes me feel better. If you pump all day, whats the big deal with cleaning a few sponges for an extra minute or two. |
