When you expand your company and want to get into the big boom market, for example we have a 32 and 36, should you go into the 40meter class or go right into the 50meter class? Now some of you might say, get a pump that will fit your market instead of bragging rights, I agree with meeting the target market needs and what will keep the truck busy, but let me know what you guys think. |

You know your market better than us,but I would say try the 45-48m range and see how it does for you , anything over 48 you just as soon go to a 55+ know matter how big theyre will always be that job you have to add system to too reach I ran a 58m and I think I used more line on it than I did a 28m. |

I agree with Pudg I ran a 52m and a 58m for years and I almost always had 200ft of system out. ANd definitely you know you market better than anyone. The 5 section 47 putz is just a incredible machine...... |

ND, Jimmy has the big booms go with a 40! If you were going to get a 42 you might as well get a 47. |

thanx pudg and joe for the advice...was just wondering what others thought about the big boom target market...i was surprised though from both of you by the amount of ground line you still use even with more reach, but i guess certian situations call for different configurations |

I believe I spoke with you one time and you mentioned you got all your pumps from Jim? I try to stay out of Jimmy's pocket if you know what I mean. Hope all is well! |

47m is a really good size. In my area, 47's are just under the heavy weight table that require daily trip permits that pumps in the 50-60m class do. Add a couple pices of hose and you have a 52m and so on. Yet, you can still cover work that your 36m's do...the outrigger spread isn't that much bigger. A very versatile machine-- |

I agree, Putz 47 is an awesome machine, with the 5 section RZ boom it's perhaps even more versatile than a 4 section 36/40M... and the footprint is ultratight at only 26ft. on the front end(the same size as most 42's and some 40's)
we have both 36's and 40's and you really don't notice the 4 meters of reach all that much, definitely recommend going with the 47 if you have work for it! |
