i just bought a trailer pump and the swing arm has some concrete in it, is there any other way to get it out other than good ol fashion chipping? it's in just the perfect spot to be a pain. been slowly chipping all morning. are there any chemicals i can let sit on that stuff, just a stab in the dark, thanks

Best thing to do is get a air gun chipper, makes quick work. I never liked using CC and it does not work well on large amounts of crete.

dont use the gun on the cylinder, if you ding it it will cause you problems. Dont use a chipping hammer on chrome.

Well this is my take on it.Take the hopper off and chip, plain and simple.Chemicals actually do more harm that good.Throw the shift cylinder to fully retacted(chrome shaft in).A hopper reseal kit is extremly cheap.Clean to your hearts content and remount. It's not easy being 1st class, but your equipment reflects on you (pride and dedication).Good luck

I am with Many. The same guy that let concrete build-up in the tube probably did not grease it very well. If you have the time, I would pull the S tube and check the bearings and seals and make sure all of the zirks take grease. Replace the seals, and make sure that when you go back together you are careful to not do more harm than good. Give our mechanic a call; he will shoot straight with you.(up top, right below the REED banner - FREE MECHANIC HELP

Back when I was a newby I had this happen. We took a chipping gun and welded a steel stake to the end of the chisle, and bent the stake at the right angle needed to get the build-up. In my case the build-up was due to a low pressure water hose I had used on my last wash-up. Best of luck to you.

Absolutly Bob,a good sign.low card,Bob made a valuable point.A good maintenance program affects your recievable collum.Another point would perhaps be an oil analisis on the engine, that to is cheap.By your post it appears that you are a new owner/operator.If you do things in an orderly maner it will save you much grief.Repack wheel bearings, change hyd oil, coolants as you don't know what has or hasn't been done.Wish you luck.

promt wash out cleans eazy but if its an hour later or if you have color i back stroke a couple of times to get some of the volume out and stop to fill with water then i take a three foot still pin with a bend that i put in the tip and use it to scratch the tube as to separate the mud for the rince out, then you know its clear and job done. i have a ware part in front of the drivers that are three inches deep that will build up an inch tall of material and then release to get caught in the 2.5 inch reducer. yep i got caught.
