I have never worked with this before. An add mixture called "caltite" (amonia) supposed to make concrete/grout non-pourous or "water-proof" I am using this stuff for pile repair (under water) and it makes the water "shimery" like diving in gasoline. How long has this been used or is it new?? |

Hi Leroy,
We have been using Caltite for over six years now in the channel islands, mainly in bacements and lift shaft pits. We also use it for swimming pools and any where you don't want water geting in to.
As you mentioned it is amonia based and can become over powering when in confined spaces i.e strong amonia smell.
This product acts like regular concrete and can be worked and finished as such, unlike some add mixtures that can be a pain to pump and finish when placed.
From what the Uk rep has told us it was developed for the military and was invented by an Australian, but thats all I really know about the history of the product.
As for pumping the stuff it's great and will pump through a static line, just watch the water, add only thirty litres at a time, check load and add more if needed. We work between 90mm to 100mm slump and like I said watch the water, one second it is ok, the next slurry .... hope this has helped...

we use it a lot in england, when it first came out it could cause a lot of trouble for operators but they seem to have got the mix right ,But it can still catch u out so be very carefull when u r waiting for concrete keep the hopper full so u can keep it moving every 5 or 10 mins |

The other stuff out there is BARRIER 1. This stuff makes the concrete completely water proof. We are using it here in Boston on all the floors for a hospital project. The stuff has no smell, it sets up like lightning, and no bleed water. It can add about $ 50.00 per yard ! No difference in pumping with my schwing. |
