It's a Thompsen 747. Back in it's day it was the BadBoy that got all the 'hard to pump' jobs because it was the only Tommy with five inch boom pipe.

wow it seems the more I know about concrete boom trucks the less I know. Ive never seen one this old , and judging by its looks this machine hasnt moved in years ? Im glad to say our industry has came along way since this was built.

Hell yea, TT : I remember tilting the truck down with the outrigger to get the second section to swing open, then tilting it back up to slow it down, and then BOLTING it together. If you didn't get it right, and it swung too fast, you could rip the hinges off and the thing would fall off. We used a bottle of nitrogen set at 35 lbs to blow a sponge (really foam from old mattresses and seat cushions, soaked in oil) back into the hopper! With the Thompsen 845,I remember all the pipe had weep holes,to give you warning when the pipe was getting thin. The PIPE was the tip section! Pumping back then wasn't for the faint of heart.Or the bright of mind, either! I'm still doing it, that should tell you something about me! LOL

Those 2 really should be restored and put in a museum.

I ran A 745 for 8 long years we used to unfold the boom and drive it in to buildings and you would put the remote cord and all in the cab swing the boom wile driving to get around columns crazy stuff now but that was the norm back then

Spotted these old fellers in Enumclaw Wash. on my way up chinook pass. The guy that owns & operated them now has a tool and equip. rental yard... Situated around a few ole pumps.

There's a 740 (minus the boom) back there too. There's quite a few relics parked in various pastures here in the pacific NW. I think partly because of the taters & gravy concrete materials up here.

Yes, they should be in a museum of sorts. If I ever won the big one I'd start an old pump museum. NONE of them would have to pump, they could just sit around lookin cool with fresh paint & chrome wheels. The best part would be finding some old timers to keep the tires aired up and tell stories all day. Not mechanics but 'curators'.

Here's the 740, or what's left of it...

Cool Whips was on a corn binder, It's up in Mukilteo. That one has actual elbows except for the starter hose. I'm pretty sure it's still semi functional. Heck ask TC it's his baby now! HAHA!
