I just got off the phone with Christi and with Mike Cusack, both of them were very nice and explained to me how their hope is that everyone who wants to learn and become a safer pump operator and owner will attend this meeting.

I personally think that the ACPA does a great job at these safety meetings and are an asset to our industry. I deleted the earlier post because I felt like I was not being fare to the ACPA and Conco.

Maybe a different location would be better for the Washington area maybe not I heard both sides of the argument and one thing that Mike said to me really struck home and that was that these seminars are about safety and that is it. No matter what problems Washington has maybe these seminars will help to bring owners closer together.

Hey Todd, back in the day we use to take turns in the Bay Area at the different companys hosting the seminars. They took turns providing the food etc and there were no problems, but then again, everyone there was on a even playing field....Here in the Northwest the problems that conco and the Operating Engineers caused was a joke. But, unlike most, I dont hold conco totally to blame. In my opinion, it was more the engineers fault. They took their own wants and needs and the few operators conco had and tried to force it down everyones thriat verses trying to do what the majority of the areas operators wanted. In the long run, if the other companys would have signed the agreement with the operators it wouldve made them raise their prices instead of wallowing around in shit prices....It is what it is at this point a safety meeting to each his own.....

That's the way I see it also Todd so I plan on going. The ACPA safety seminars are far and few between up here in the  pacific NW so I wouldn't care if it was held at the Viking/Express/Shamy/WTF shop I'd still go.

Besides it's not like it's a bunch of Conco people that were sent up here from Cal. The majority of them are the same guys many of us have worked with at other companies and they're exactly like the rest of us when the deck pipe dings and the day is done. Some close personal friends of mine work there that I've known for almost 20 yrs. that tought me how to prime a pump and they're good people. It's not like it's a precon meeting at the next big dig and I'm pretty sure no one will be on the clock.

It's a seminar put on by the one and only association that represents US that's being held at one of their members facilities. It's an oportunity to get certified or recertified which is a good thing to have in such uncertain times. Being certified shows that your a professional that takes the job seriously. No one can use the excuse that it's the same old test it's always been anymore. I compared the new study guide that I downloaded from the ACPA website with an old one and a lot has been added to it, now it's 40 pages long, I dont know how many questions were added to the test but it's no longer an open book like it used to be.

bbcp and pumpco both used to host these events. They also used rooms at hotels for the seminars.Sometimes the info was redundant but a refresher is always nice.Yes,it may be in an odd setting but go for you.
