Boom pumping companies continue to dominate here in Phoenix and all around Arizona, Their prices are in many cases the same as line pumping companies pricing or less, but with a boom pump to service the customers job instead of the line pump. When will the boom pumpers here in Arizona and all around the country get their head out of their cheeks? I am tired of quoting less then i ever have, and in many cases i am still charging more than a boom pumping companies, therefore i loose many jobs when i am quoting. Even some of those you would not expect to hear would do this in the industry are doing it too along with the obvious ones too like BB.
When will the madness stop? My father taught me when i was working in sales for his building materials company back in the late 1990's and early 2000's, that it doesn't matter how much volume you do if their is no money in it, and your wearing out your trucks and equipment. He said the more volume you do, the more wear and tear & repairs, and the higher the risk you bring of not even being paid for the projects that have worn out your trucks & equipment which in turn will then need to be repaired at a cost that does not align with what you charged your customers for delivering your services to them.
He also said nothing is nothing, zero is zero, and why go out and take on high volume and make almost nothing for that risk that volume brought. Sometimes we do a great job for a spectacular price and then we aren't even paid, and lien rights only go so far when the banks are in first position and will always be paid before anyone on the project if things go bad half way through. So now all of these companies are doing exactly what my father would not let me do, oversell and underprice. I'm glad my father taught me what he did when i was very young, even though i am slower than i would like to be, my risk is manageable, my equipment is in great shape, and when i actually am working i am pulling a good living. The owners of all those boom pumping companies are pound for pound far more at risk, pound for pound have far less liquid or equipment assets than little old line pumper me here at Action Concrete Pumping Arizona. When things turn around i will be in a position to add boom pumps to my equipment inventory, will profit by owning them, and won't give them away like a .99Cent Big Mac. currently I own 2 pickup trucks and 3 concrete line pumps, i picked up my most recent pump from a broke concrete line pumper at a cost of 10,000.00 cash, he too was not charging enough to make it in this business, i paid off his bank note to save his credit, and in return i have gained his customer base who i charge more to than he did and a 40,000.00 piece of equipment that virtually had no hours on it at all. I have earned the right to pick up equipment cheep as a result of everyone competing to see who can get to the bottom first by chargeing the least amount to pump concrete.
Concrete Pumping Competition in America!!! Concrete pumping companies are competing to see who can charge the least amount of money on each concrete pumping project and keep their doors open the longest!!! This is what we are saying about our industry while material costs and fuel are beginning to sky rocket again. Nothing is nothing my dad said, no matter what the volume, no matter how good it looks on paper, it takes a fixed dollar amount per job to pump concrete and keep your doors open, and 75% of you concrete pumping companies are not there and will be gone.
Its only a matter of time, and i am just waiting.
Happy Discount Pumping!!!
I Truly Thank You,
Scott Neely,
Action Concrete Pumping Arizona. |

Yes your absolutely right, if your anything like myself, we pay our tax and run legit and legal real companies. Others are playing a shell game with our industries economy. It kind of makes it hard to breath... Boom pumpers and line pumpers alike are running around like a chicken with their head cut off, i really mean it, they run around like their body has no head with a mind to control it. |

I went to your website, checked out the "specials" page. You call yourself the discount pumper in Arizona. Think about what your selling and don't worry about what everybody else is doing. |

Well in Canada i checked and the pricing there is holding much stronger and higher, and companies are giving their employees good hours, yours might be one of those companies doing well in Canada too. Here we are really struggling and it makes it hard not to worry about all the others when they keep going down so low into the dirt with the pricing. No matter how low i go it seems that someone will go much lower just to get jobs and keep working. |

I believe that problem is wide world. We have a little bit of the same problem in Sweden, it´s allways someone who does the job for cheaper money. I refuse to sell my pumpservices so cheap, that i don´t earn any money to do it - then why run a company in this business? Do something else instead. But we still have an accepteble margin in Sweden to earn money in the pumpbusiness, but it´s a war every day to get every pumpjob. Sometime it´s very frustrating when i give a custom a very low price, and the custom believe that i fool him with a high price. Someone at the site who have the same experience?

Yes your right it probably is worldwide right now, dare i think its just us here in little old Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, Pine Top, Show Low, Mesa, Nogales, Sierra Vista, Lake Havasu City, Scottsdale, Buckeye, Peoria, Surprise, El Mirage, Sun City, Ahwatukee, Chandler, Tolleson, Avondale, Glendale, Prescott, or Statewide here in Arizona... AZ is bad, but i guess so is the world now from what you are telling me. Doesn't make me feel better that its bad worldwide, but at least i know that i am not alone in this bad concrete pumping economy or industry as it were. |
