Queensland Fire and Rescue Service fire investigator John Burrows inspects damage to a concrete boom truck in Torrington.

UP to half a million dollars of concrete pumping equipment has been destroyed by fire at a Torrington depot.

A 2008 Hino truck loaded with a Sany concrete pumping boom was wrecked in last night's fire.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service fire investigator John Burrows said a nearby resident to the Allen Ct yard called emergency services after noticing a red glow out of her bedroom window about 9.20pm.

Mr Burrows said it was likely the fire began in the cabin area of the truck.

He declined to comment on whether or not he thought it had been deliberately lit.

An industry source estimated the truck's value at between $400,000 and $500,000 based on its age and make.

Investigations into the cause are continuing.

wonder if there wasn't enough time to let the turbo cool off and the exhaust was a little plugged causing the turno to heat up and the ambient heat caught the cab on fire? probably not. but that would be something.. i see guys all the time shutting their trucks right off after a long drive. not smart and damages the turbo.
