We just took a big hit on permits here in Ohio, the cost of a single trip permit went from 60$ to 135$. Just curious what everyone else pays in different states. When something like this happens, what do you do pin it on the customer? Another change was that if you are pumping a state or gov. job permits only cost 10$, how do they justify that?

here in louisiana we have yearly permits that cost $1000.00 and we charge $20 per job for permits but in the pasts customers are responsible for all permit costs whatever they maybe.

Did you know you have to have a separate permit just to run the Ohio Turnpike? If you don't have it, they will stop the driver at the entrance and make them park the truck until you get one. That's $130 extra bucks by its self then you have the toll charges also once you get on.

If you don't charge the customer, who do you charge? Any increases in the cost of fuel/permits/tolls gets passed right along to the customer.

In Washington State its $26 for a monthly over weight permit up to 70k GVW. Over 70k is $22 for a (2) day permit, anything over 100k is a portal to portal permit thats between $30-$50 depending on GVW. The customers are charged for permit costs.

Also, in Virginia it costs $ 45 for a permit for a year. There are a few cities in Va. that make you pay for a separate permit just to enter that city, they run from $75 to $300 and are good for a year also. Along with operator wages, fuel, etc., the cost of the permits definitely have to be considered when you figure out what to charge for your pump.

JUST A QUESTION.

What's the saving in buying a boom rig that is over weight or over length against a legal unit with correct axle loadings and overhang?

In the USA, you have such liberal axle loadings, around

9 ton single front against Australia's 6.0 to 6.5 ton most states, overhang 60% of the w'base here USA ?

The rules here are crazy.

In Georgia, the 28meter machines donot need an overweight permit and maybe a 32meter Schwing is legal, maybe.

All other machines are overweight and require a permit........... go figure!
