METTER, GA (WTOC) -

Jobs and a new industry are coming to Candler County almost 30 years after the community planted the seeds. The international company moved into a long-vacant building to make it their home in the United States.

The company makes concrete pumpers, and it's bringing it's presence to Candler County and the community welcomed them with open arms.

Candler County put up the shell for the building back in 1987, to help attract industry. Finally, last year, Concrete Pump Engineering saw it as the place to open a plant in America.

"We were looking for a sea port, because our machines are big and we need to be close to a port, and we needed to be close to an interstate," said Sebastian Falzon, Owner & President.

"We were able to provide all those things, and we're also a hub between several technical colleges, as well as universities," said Hannah Mullins, Candler County Industrial Authority.

The 16 employees take the pumpers that arrive and mount them on trucks, and send them to buyers around the country. Locals couldn't be happier to have someone finally using the building, and Falzon said he's glad the Georgia Port Authority suggested Metter.

"I like to make a difference where I am. In big cities, you don't make a difference. In small places like this, you can actually make an impact," Falzon said.

That impact starts with this building finally bringing in jobs and money.
