David Bohon posts and brags about how close he gets to power lines. Fairfield, CT. Says he works for Mohican Valley Concrete.

This one was a close one for the 40M. I had to swing out from under the power lines and raise up between the them and the tree. I had about 4 inches clearance on both sides of the BOOM. In the end I got a 50$ tip and got the walls and columns done and made all happy.

Thanks to guys like this is why we have OSHA!  Is 50 bucks worth a life or two? Got away with it this time but roll the dice again and see what happens.

not a very bright person for 4 reasons:

1: He went ahead and did that!

2: He photographed it!

3: He bragged about it!

4: He went ahead and did that!!

Maybe the power was turned off. Doesn't seem to be enough information to start accusing this person of being reckless.

You never assume the power is off, but I understand what your saying.

Todd, you're waaaaay out of line accusing anybody of wrong doing. You know nothing about the situation. As Woodbridge said, power may have been off or wires may have only been phone and cable TV lines.

Stop trying to be the industry safety police. You've never run a boom and you sure as hell aren't qualified to call out an operator on any subject.  This post was bad form on your part.

I disagree 180, this is a dumb very unsafe picture. If the power lines were off he should of at least said so. You do not post stuff like this without getting crap for it.  By the way you don't have to run a boom to know what is unsafe, I do have a few qualifications you might not know about. Once you see a few dead operator, burned up hose men you might change your idea about cowboy operators posting dumb pictures like this and if it is safe not qualifying it as such.

Here is some of my qualifications.

1. I created one of the first Concrete Pumping Safety programs for a medium size Concrete Pumping Company (boom pumps) back in the mid 80's.

2. I go to most all of the ACPA meeting dealing with safety issues most every meeting.

3.I sat on the committee for ASME B30.27 at my own expense costing thousands of $$$

4. I love this industry and care about the owners and the operators.

Booming under or over live powerlines is not only dumb but illegal and should never be done if the power was cut he should of said so, simple really.

Stay safe guys, your families need you.

Number 4 is what really matters .                Bashing another will solve no problems           Contact this operators company first thing Monday, since this act was "illegal"           Since all of us "experts" know of this unsafe act,we are part of the problem     Confront him now

first off no one should be getting on anyone for bashing this guy ! you post this crap and a rookie see's it and thinks he can do it and somebody ends up dead where are we at ?  If the lines are dead he surely should have stated so. Secondly I personally did a job years ago where a operator was going over lines with a 43 meter , I would not do it , the next day they had him back out there and he killed three men , this is NEVER OK !!!! And the ones taking up for him please do not ever do this , its not worth the risk.

I've never run a boom pump but I've heard about the 10' rule that became the 15' rule and is now suggested at 18'.  Loose electricity is nothing to be trifled with.  Only you can prevent electrocution...

Typical politically correct people who need to grow a pair. This board is following the money so all the girls can meet at their little seminars and World of "wish I could run a boom truck",but are too sweet to get their little hands dirty.             Get with it boys, more stupid shit will happen        Think about it,tell the whole world this guys name and companies name, then go silent      Go work at Wally world and be a door greeter
