There are more pumps than work right now in the DFW area. If you want to find out about this business; go to work for one of the companies that are operating in that area, learn. If you are thinking that you, as a self confessed "NEWBY" have something to teach the folks that are there now, you do not. If you have allied yourself with some mfg' that is going to "no money down" you into business; you will not make it. At best you will lower the prices in that market and be remembered as a spoiler. Continue to do what ever it is that you have been doing or LEARN this business. Don't try and buy a piece. |

if you dont know the pump industry , dont do it,you should know the equip inside and out, that way you rely on no one but yourself, you must have a customer base that will be loyal, most times due to the service you have provided in the past, you MUST not lower prices just to get jobs, and you must have mastered concrete pumping or have someone that has, this will cost money if you have to hire a master pumper,it can be done but in these times its tough, what will you have to offer the others already in business do not,I have never been a pesimist, but in these times I would try and find a location that the pumps didnt outnumber the jobs, thats hard to find these days. |

You should go into the bait business. It is way easier to find an individual with expert qualifications. Not just some jack off al trades. |

hey niffer 222 like bob said its easy to buy a pump if you got a few bucks to make the deal. customers will not nessesarally change companies to let you practice the trade and some will not pay you and that portion is what you are trying to live off well maybe you will need a night job to pay the bills. the we part, that you talk about is there someone else involved in this business, remember you do not make a profit until the equipment is paid for. this is like any other business there is allways three guys doing it cheeper and faster, they can set an example but try not to do anything thats not right for you. its a simple one horse job where you show up and work real hard and drive away ha ha. used pumps should be a really good buy right now. some companys over head can be higher than you so you might have some advantage. step on in the water is fine and who knows you might be really good at this. |

I have not been able to talk to anyone on this site that is actually in the Dallas Fort Worth area. I had heard differently, that there is a demand for more pupms in my area. I appreciate all the feedback that I have got from here and I am in the process of trying to make a good decision whether to invest my money into this type of business. My husband, who has worked in the construction industry in this area for years thinks this is a good way to go. I am on the business and financial side of it trying to learn and make sense of it all. |

Always remember your first customers, their the ones who got you started. If you work hard and do the best job that you can and ALL ways make the customer happy you can make a living but at these times you wont get rich.So if your doing it to get rich don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Alittle that i forgot.Make friends with the other pump companies in your area, get to know there dispatchers and try to sub work from them,it will help get your name out there.Remember too that when you sub that your representing your company and the people your subing the job from but never give out your card unless they ask you, don't offer it'll give you a bad name. |
