DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM JGB EAGLECRETE or Quinn Callahan

While i was at World of Concrete i stopped by a few hose vendors, JGB Enterprises (Eaglecrete Hose) being one of those vendors, and had my badge scanned. 2 weeks ago i get a call from a JGB salesman, Quinn Callahan, obviously wanting to sell me some hose/system. At that time i was in need of a new 3"x 12' whip, so i thought what the heck ill try it and see how we like it. He prices it to me at $169.00. I didnt think that was a bad price at all so i ordered one, gave him my credit card, and a week later the hose is delivered. A few days after that i get an invoice in the mail from JGB for the ammount of $298.97! I was suprised. I have ordered hose many times in the past and i know without a doubt how much it costs to ship it.

So i gave it the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was a clerical mistake. I called them back right away, and got ahold of my "salesman" Quinn Callahan. I explained to him why i was calling, and he asked me how much "freight and handling"i was charged. I told him $129.97, and his his reaction was literally "Holy Shit!". I said "Yeah thats exactly what i thought too". He said that he would investigate it and call me back right away. True to his word he called back 30 minutes later and began to explain to me that he had shown my bill to his "Boss", and he verified that it was accurate. I asked how could that be that expensive?! He gives me this Mickey Mouse answer about diesel fuel being higher now ect. Trust me, i know how much fuel is, i pay the bill. Even a small company like ours knows the true cost of increased fuel and what he was telling me was total B.S.

He then has the nerve to tell me that the next time i order hose from them, i need to order more in the neighborhood of $3,000.00 and they will just waive the shipping cost. I kindly informed him that if this is how they were going to treat me, especially as a new customer, that i would never buy anything from them again, as i was very displeased with their solution for this freight charge, which was no solution at all. He didnt care, i paid with a credit card, and their money is already in the bank. Im not asking for them to remove all the freight, but i feel as though they are making up for the discounted hose by charging more for the shipping and handling. If that is truly the case i wish they would be upfront about it before shipping an item in the future.

The funny thing is that THEY CALLED ME to sell me something hoping i would like it enough to spend more. The freight and handling costs were grossly inflated to make up for the dirt cheap price on the hose. Do i owe these guys freight? You bet i do. But not $129.97 worth.

Be sure and pass this story along, we cannot stand to have vendors like this in our industry.

Quinn at JGB has always treated me right. Why did'nt you ask him how much freight wwas? I mean come on, freight is freight, it is what it is. That's why I tell Quinn to call me once a year, and I will spend $3000 or more and get the freight paid for. I think it is wrong for you to put them out there like that, for something that is out of there control. Especially, cause you should have been responsible enough to know to ask how much freight is going to be.  JGB is a very good compay, and the customer sevice Quinn provides is class A.

It was shipped UPS ground. I called UPS and verified what it cost to have it shipped. $60 bucks. Thats how i know im getting hosed. 2 plastic zip ties and shoved in a cardboard box is not worth another $70. give me a break.

We here at JGB are very sorry that you feel this way about this recent order you placed but the freight charge you received was the correct freight charge that you should have been charged. In addition to the "actual weight" of the product, UPS Ground also charges "dimensional weight" based on the size of the package. Being that a concrete pump hose is a large shipment for UPS ground, you then get hit with dimensional weight charges as well. That is where your charge of 129.97 came from. I’m certain the $60.00 that you may have been told by UPS after the fact did not account for the dimensional weight of the shipment. We could have shipped the 1 hose you bought on a freight truck but the charges would be the same as if we sent the hose UPS Ground to you. Again, I'm very sorry you feel this way but the freight charge is what it is.

JGB Enterprises has been in the hose business for over 36 years and we move $100,000,000.00 in hose products a year. We get very competitive freight rates due to how much product we ship on a daily basis. We are not in the business and have not been as successful as we are by deceiving and over charging customers. We have large and loyal customer base that will attest to our business practices.

Just a thought since you do have significant revenue and he is a new customer....refund his shipping cost or give him the money of the freight bill towards his possible next purchase?

not taking eithers side, but freight on concrete equipment goes by size and weight , and the $129 does not sound that outrageous to me, I order parts every day and that sounds about right for freight on a hose.

Bottom line you get what you pay for most times.   cheap$ = cheap quality. I wil never buy cheap hoses again

Everybody charges shipping, get a frieght quote perhaps. It is true the more one orders the cheaper per unit cost is,heck they even charge a (convience fee) when using a credit/debit card at alot of places.Usually (but not always) UPS shipments are quicker by nature, not sitting on a loading dock somewhere.I agree an upfront cost should have been given at the delivery point,no hidden costs.

Glad I'm in the freight delivery business.  If i could get a truck load of hose to deliver at $129/hose, I would carry nothing but hose!  JGB please feel free to call on me for all of your freight delivery service!!

By the way, I always dealt with Kyle Bernhardt at JGB and always thought the price was pretty reasonable on hoses and clamps, and super nice guy to deal with as well.
