Sorta yes, sorta no. Problem with super p is it tends to lean out the mix and can wreak havoc with the air.So if one has a lean mix to begin with,oh boy.I would say it acts like a spoungy air problem when pumping, real hard.It does however get into the hopper very good. That's the short version |

There are a lot of water reducer products out there now days and some of them can have some negative effects on a pump. Good ole 'Super P' was great but "Adva" and "Adva100" had problems. The concrete hits the chute like a nice wet 7" but pumps like a 3" and looks like gray glue with some agg. It can also cause the entrained air content to spike and high air mud can be tuff to pump. "Adva Flow" is good to go and "Glenium" is even better. Anything that increases slump 'should' help it pump, go easy on the water, 10 gallons can turn a 4 into an 8 so add five at a time? |

Well said Many. if its a cheap or lean mix, SP hasn't made pushing the crap any easyer in my experience. in a good or designed mix, hell yah. bring on the SP. just pushed a 250mm slump (not an agilia mix), 40mpa mix through 600ft of horizontal pipe. the loads arrive at 100mm - 110mm slump. 175 - 200 bar on the gauge and the truck empty in 17mins. when i moved to the big city, first job was 150mm Plastesized load, i was in heaven until i saw the mess on the back of the pump. |

story was, loader operator at plant only loaded manufactured sand into bins, 1st 3 loads was garbage,, redi mix salesman told my operator that the plastesizer would help, NOT!!!! only made it tougher to pump. 3000psi residential mix, go figure |

super p is not a pumping aid , I have never had super p help a pump out , my biggest problem with water reducers is the ready mix guys have it in there head that this can take the place of water , they couldnt be more wrong , in the last few months I have fought thru a super p job just because the rmix was stingy on the water add 10 gallons before super no problem , doing a job with mid range rite now same shit midrange added got a 3" slump that means Im starting with a 1/2-1" slump doesnt really work very well , add the agua and it works great without agua its a pain in the ass. agua=h20 |

You need slurry to lube up the pipes. Slurry = water and cement, (or flyash, or minus 200 mesh aggregate fines) not enough water, and all you have is an abrasive compound. |

The problem here is the mud was there, that's the way it always works.Arrive on job,set up,ready to prime, back in 1st truck and shazaaam. Now in this case it appears a unqualified rep from supplier not only gave bad advice but took the wronge action. As we all know the suppliers have those marginal mixes they say pump so good, not.Manufactured sand is a real treat for those unsusspecting souls that have not experienced it yet.I fought it for so many years till the management at the plant changed, and they got there own pumps. We often look at the quality control people from plant for help,in this case that went south.Super p dilutes the mix, like adding 200 gallons water to a load, now the fines went away into fluid land.As I have always said --- This is a concrete pump not a rock crusher |
