well todd in my honest opinion i feel america shouldnt half to have something like this. i feel we as concrete pumpers should care and respect our companies we represent as well as respect others all around us that are a part of what we do to do these things without it having to be a law or rule or whatever to enforce it. it shouldnt need to be enforced its something we should be doing without even questioning the fact iof it should be a rule or law etc. but what do i know im just a rookie and only been in pumping world for about 8 months now!! |

The reason i bring this up is because when i saw this i was kind of shocked. I talked with them and they said that they have a counsel and those that dont follow the rules they can kick out. |

Whilst the NSW Concrete Pumping Association does some good things as a link with various Government departments on the concrete pumping industry. It is however much like the USA association ...... it has maybe just 5% to 8% of the concrete pumping industry in NSW as paid up members, 100 at best. The great thing about the concrete pumping industry is that it is a free and open market. Anyone willing to invest in equipment can start. They may be a success, they may stuff up a few jobs gaining experience, some may fail. It is when Associations start to bring in licenced operators and push the "hire an association member" that they, association members will create a rod for their own backs. The licenced pump operators will then control their (owners) business ......... without operators, no business, with licenced operators, commercial blackmail. I have in the 40 years with the industry never heard of a NSW association member being told to resign or chucked out of the association.

I saw a code of ethics for the SCACPA (Southern California Chapter of the ACPA) hanging in a So Cal's pump companies office 15+ years ago. It was similar to this and addressed the major ethics issues of concrete pumping. With several companies competing in the same market there is always someone who thinks they have to break the rules to sell. It will never stick unless you have limited competition. Someone always takes the low road. |

The ACPA has a code of ethics. For a copy I'd suggest contacting the national office. |
