Double ended discharge hose?

I hear all the time about no metal on discharge hose end. Does this only apply to booms. What about line pumps? Is this an issue when going from steel to rubber, or just no double ended at all ever?

Just an example:

System out: 200' all hose.

pour out from 200' at start back towards pump, removing hose as needed every 25-50'. Do we break 1 hose and keep moving, or break 2 and replace the point of placement hose with a single ended hose? If we just use single ended hose, wouldn't we be taking 2 off each time and replacing 1 with the single ended hose.

What do you guys do on line jobslike this?

Yes, the rules are the same with a line pump.

The tip hose stays the tip hose the entire pour. Breaking back is taking out a section and then clamping on the tip hose

Damn! I better add that to my line pump routine? All the preach'n I do about hanging DE hose and I never use a whip on line jobs! Sometimes it's hard to find a whip hose that does'nt kink and most of the line jobs I do are off the end of a boom which makes it more difficult to swap out or add hose because of drainage.

Today I did one with 200' of 2.5" hose off the end of a 36m. We were break'n and shake'n all the way back to the pump and then I put on a 3" whip and boomed the rest. Now I feel kind of  ignorant, I've always thought that it was OK to pour out of DE hoses if they were on the ground line pumping?

There will be twice as many people that dont comply with this part of the DE hose rule. I know some line pumpers that dont even own a whip hose!

I don't know of too many line pumps with whip hoses either.   With the hose lying on the ground, the whipping potential is still there, but being that it's on the ground - that soaks alot of the whipping energy.

We've got some contractors that demand a whip at the discharge point.  We've got contractors that would explode at you for wasting the time to keep re-attaching a whip.

???

I would still be on the job mentioned above if I had put a whip on after breaking each hose off!

But then again they would still be paying me to be on that job?

Thanks guys for the info. I have a hose that was abrasion damaged on the outside. I cut it there and was thinking of using it for my end hose. Is this kosher, or do I need an "anti-whip" hose?
