What does everyone do on rainout days besides take it easy. Has anyone found any viable "second job" or side work?

Russ that's simple housework, cooking, yardwork, laundry, the common joys of being single. The exception being when 2 grandsons come over,no place is sacred and takes almost a week to recover.

We are a small company with no mechanic so there is always something to do. We always get 40hrs. We have to work, but there is always work to do, but there is a downside to it like last week we had to go move furniture for my sister (the boss' daughter) one day after it rained. But it all pays the same i guess!

THEY USED TO LET US COME IN AND WORK ON THE TRUCKS, BUT THEN THEY DECIDED THEY WOULD RATHER MAKE UP THE REST OF THE 40 HOURS VERSES PAY OUT OVERTIME.......NOT COOL IN MY BOOK LOT OF MAINTENANCE THAT CAN BE DONE ON A RAINY DAY BUT IF THEY WANT ME TO LAY UP ON THE COUCH I WILL.

Our busy season has started. We've been getting anywhere 50-80 hr. weeks. I put in 80 hrs. a month ago still recovering from that one.

What part of the country are you in littlepumper?

West coast, bay area and northern California. I rarely work locally so a big chunck of time is windshield time. It all pays the same.

Second job, pff well if you had to , try a crane. Or anything really, I would when  I was younger take the odd out of town trip in a rig, just to escape the city.
