This kinda goes along with pumpdaddys post about his dui but concerns driving records. I had a time when I bought a new car and decided to have a little fun which I am now regretting. It really sucks that they cannot somehow find a way to keep your personal tickets away from the work place. I have never had any incidents in any company vehicle but yet the insurance companies frown on me because of the stupid things I did in my personal vehicle. One of which was on private property!  I understand I should have thought before I did the things I did but you know how that works. I really wish there was a way to seperate the two!

About a year ago I saw a case where a [civilian] hit a commercial truck. All things being equal; that is to say if both vehicles were [civilian], the one hitting the truck would have received a ticket.

As it turned out the person that hit the truck (even though it was "really" the car's fault), was awarded a very large sum of money. When asked, the jury said that they expected more from the professional driver than from a regular driver. The jury found for the car, even though the car was at fault.

The fact is that people expect the truck drivers to behave with more professionalism than regular drivers. Is that FAIR?

Like my father says; "The fair is in August."   ;~)

Trust me I know all about that, I was in downtown Cincinnati making a wide right turn when a woman decided to try to beat me through the turn after I was already turning. We made contact and of course I was cited, got it knocked down to an equipment violation but still got the accident on my record. The cop told me im not aloud to leave my lane to turn which I understand but I asked him if he had ever drove a truck... Of course his answer was NO... I think everyone should have to ride in a truckfor a few days before being licensed... maybe then they would understand what we go through.... It is a big crock how it works. Wish there was something we could do about it.
