Hey guys

This  message is to get peoples opinion about what they think it would be better to delay the dry of concrete in hopper when i need to go from place to place...

What hapens here is i work for a small concrete company out here in the east ( long island NY) and my company pumps concrete at least three times a day. althou the jobs arent that big ( and this company only has one pump so ))) its like 40 yds here 35 at another job site maybe like 30 minutes drving and then maybe the third one like 40 minutes driving.

the thing is i (lose alot time 15/20mm ) cleaning and then doing the prime thing again. s

so i was just wondering if u guys could help me out on what it be the best solution for this kinda situation.

Not to mention the cost of cleaning the road,cars,etc, if it splashes out of your hopper.

Its like anything, it’s all a processes. You prep, you start, you end and you clean up, than go to your next job. If you take short cuts you will end up costing yourself and your company in the long run.

Feel good about what you do by doing the best job possible and not taking short cuts that might end up killing someone. Don’t travel with concrete in the hopper or system.

That’s my thoughts anyway.

Every now and again we all will drive to the next job without washing. Every day and all the time is just too risky. A forty minuit drive is too long! It will spank you before you know it.

yeah i want to the best job. So i guess i just bettere loosing 20 minutes washing then loosing days of work cus of problems that i might cause. 

I must Agree with Speedy & All others,  It is much Quicker & easier to Wash A hopper Out Than it is to Chip A Hopper Out.   

Hey we drive around in Hobart with a hopper full all the time and if you have to go any real distance we simply put a little of retardant in it fair enough its alittle hard at the end of the day say 10_14 hours but with a crow-bar its out in around 10 minutes and its out, when we set up i use diesel with a bit of oil in it,spray the hopper and it makes it a hell of alot easier.

Me personally I dont recomend travel down the road with mud in the hopper,  however if you do always suck a ball all the way back to your transition 90.  I dont even move a pump on the same job site without doing this.  If something goes wrong you can dump the hopper and cleanout the cylinders.  When you get to the next job either pump out the ball or open the transition 90.  Hopefully this will help as this  is the only way to safely move from one jobsite to another
