How ethical is it for a company to show up on a job that a competitor is pumping and slash the price to get the rest of the job? I don't mean stopping by and making a normal sales call but going to the job in the middle of a pour. Should a site like this make this companies common practice known? What do all you pundits think of a company that operates in this manner? |

I personally understand what you’re talking about, I have quit associations because of what I saw was unethical practices of the president of the association and will not join again until he is no longer president, but you can’t just quit pumping concrete because your competitor may not follow the unwritten rules of appropriate sales conduct. We all deal with unethical people from time to time. The best things to do is not to change your ethical practices to compete with someone who is unethical. Do a good job, be better than the rest. People like to deal with like minded people so after it all settles you should be ok. Rise above don’t lower your standards. Just remember that contractor would end up getting that lower price from that pumper sooner or later, the fact that he gave him that lower price in front of you at least gives you the heads up on what is going on in your market. Better to find out right away than to find out by not having any work. One of three things are happening, the first is the guy that came up in front of you is stupid or he wants you to know that he is at war with you or that he feels your are of no concern. Either way you should take a look at your business plan and make sure it’s the one you want to stick with. Posting the company name here would not do any good and in fact I would have to delete it. I really don’t want company fights on the web site. Good Luck Todd. |

Dude, That is way harsh. I know that you have kids that you do or did read to. Bambi was one of those kids favorites; you probably need to re read it. Thumper's mother told him: "If you can't say anything nice about someone then say nothing at all." ;~) bob
