MILLER COUNTY ' A concrete pumper truck was towed from the lake after rolling off a barge and partially submerging between the shoreline and the Atlantis Island development at the 3.5 mile marker.

The truck apparently ran into problems near the landing on the shoreline side of the mainland while it was being ferried back from the construction site on the island.

The ferry/barge uses a landing at the end of Lake Road W-20 on the North Shore to haul construction equipment and vehicles to the condominium projects that are under construction on the island.

According to the Missouri Water Patrol, the barge operator started to back up when the truck tried to exit the ferry. As the barge reversed, the truck rolled off.

The incident was reported around quitting time on Monday afternoon. The Water Patrol report said the truck did not release any hazardous materials into the lake. No injuries were reported and by early evening, the truck had been towed out of the water.

wow, looks like someone was trying to mix business and pleasure. Someone should tell this guy that pump trucks don't exactly double as a good pontuun boat.

I dont think he had enough air in the tires or maybe his speed was two slow and he could not make it all the way across. I have seen guys in snow mobiles tread water and even dirt bikes but Concrete Pumps, this is a first.

I know of a pump that took a drink in the ocean around 99. Pump co is still running it. My question is. What will be the damage to this machine ? Will they have to change the wiring ? Will they be able to dry her out and put it back in service. Will they have to pull the motor apart?
