Just a Question. Say u have been up 48+ hours straight running 8 hours from home in a million+ dollar peice of equipment and not a single call from dispatch, management or anyone for that matter. WOULD U BE PISSED OFF OR FLATTERED? Just wonderin.

Depends on your relationship with the office people. I been there too, was normally just other operators that would keep calling to make sure i was awake and that things were going ok and sometimes the salesmen called.

Glad to hear you are that busy, sucks that its all at once.

Really, much depends on the operation. At our location we had a night shift and the shop always made checks on out units. Not only did we care but needed to know the condition of pump for next day (repairs). While I was running that shift I couldn't feel comfortable just letting him be.

I am a firm beliver in the buddy system.Say the pump needs to be loaded for the next day,he slips and hurts himself. Some may call that over protective but I didn't mind.

Yeah but when WE sleep in even though the alarm has been blaring in our ear for an hour and a half it's OUR A$$ & OUR Fault?!?!

I'd have to leave'em a voice mail of me snoring with the truck running & radio playin in the back ground! Then when they call be say "Oh $hite I fell asleep in my driveway!"

As long as they give you a well deserved sleep in they still care.

Watch out for weight stations. When I bought my 32 last month, mothers day I stopped at a weight station after getting up at 3:30 am and driving 600 miles. They weren't impressed! Made me go straight to a hotel for 12 hr min. I could have been fined but got lucky and played dumb. They said I have to keep a daily log and can't work or drive more than 11 hr a day.

Guess Im just used to being checked on, kind of an "ATTA BOY" 2 me I suppose, but I believe that someone should be aware whats goin on until at least the last truck clears from its job. At least thats how I did it.

I hate to say it sounds like poor management, lack of concern with whats goin on in their company, total disregard of safety, complete confidence in the operator on that truck, could be quite a few ,but management just like operators when they dont stay on their toes shit will bite them in the ass ,I would be checking on my people and equipment thats where my job starts ,everything else is secondary, cant perform without my men or my equipment, so they come first whether I have total confidence in him or not has nothin to do with it, Respect and a little courtesy goes a long way, just out of courtesy they should have checked on you.

So when was the last time you checked in with your office? Isn't that part of your job?
